I live in Frankston but chose to have Olivia elsewhere as I have heard negative feedback about Frankston. Also they are having a record number of births this year, I would prefer to go somewhere that isn't so busy.

That is just what I have heard. You may want to listen to somewhere who has been there though.

Very true for Last Nov also, In fact it was flat out when I was in there..

Actually the one negative thing i will say about them is that they actually sent me home 4 hours before i had her as they thought I'd be ages being a 1st timer... I was 3 cm dialated at 1.30am - when they sent me home at 4.30 i was having contractions at 2-3mins apart which then stopped for a few mins but they said id prob be comfortabler at home but could stay if i wanted but be hours....They gave me some sleeping tabs and sent me home without another internal from the one earlier - Let me say i was back there at 6.30am and fully dialated and had her at 8.37am. They did appologise for not realising i was as close as i was later on..
The Midwifes though that delivered her were great:)

I had my dd via c-sect @ Frankston Public and overall it was very positive. Even though I was a public patient, I felt like I was treated like a private patient, was given my own room but had to share the bathroom ( although there was no-one in the other room until the day before I had to leave ). All meals were huge, to the point where dh had to help me eat them, tv hire was something like $5 and I was there for about 4 days. Staff were very nice and helped me when I asked, and they were polite to dh ( which is all important too ). Everything bubs needed was supplied, I didn't need to have anything for her until the day we were to go home.

My only bad experience was the photographer - because she didn't " behave " and look on cue he jiggled her with her arm and then said she had a lazy eye because she wasn't looking his way. I had her dressed in green and all though he wrote her name down ( a very feminine name that cannot be mistaken for a boys ) the return photos were made up into cards with blue borders. To say the least I was disappointed:crying:

Thanks Ladies , I really appreciate your feedback .

If you had to go back there , which DR OB would you recommend ? I need to be referred to one of them I don't know any !!!

Thanks again

I had a private OB during my pregnancy but the birth was just the midwifes at the hospital. MY Ob's in Mornington at the Bays Hospital hes real good and has an U/S in his office so you actually get to sorta see the baby each visit. If you want his details PM me and I'll let you know.

HI Cathyn.

I choose public because I haven't got a private insurance ... and coming from oversea I don't know how works ths system in Australia ...

Thanks a lot for your help.

Have a good week end Ladies.

This is the hospital that I will be transferring to if our homebirth doesn't go according to plan, and I think part of the reason I am scared about transferring is that I've only heard bad things about the hospital (they had a fire drill while my sister was there and they took her baby from her side while she was sleeping but didn't wake her to let her know what was going on!!! She woke up with sirens blaring and her baby suddenly missing )

I'd really appreciate if fellow bubhubers could direct me to some positive birth stories that took place at frankston hospy to help me prepare :)
