My DS is a winter bub so I have a lot already but All-in-ones are the best for newborns I think :)

I am so looking forward to having a winter bub. My other 2 boys were summer babies, february and december, and I hated it. I think they were the hotest 2 summers we have had recently. Its so much easier to rug the little ones up. I am just waiting one more week to have the sex confirmed and then I am going shopping :yelclap:

I am looking forward to having a winter bubba. My mum said that she always loved having winter babies, might explain why she has 5 birthdays from the end of June to the end of July. She said they sleep better, coz you can wrap them up nice and snuggly.
I cant wait.

My boys were born Aug 30th and July... so both Winter bubs already. I LOVE it as you can wrap them up so snuggly, they aren't too hot to pick up and cuddle etc.

I also love putting little newborns in the bonds wondersuits because they are so easy! So have bought up big on those. I LOVE hats, but my babies always look weird in them because they have such huge heads :(

I don't get socks anymore as i find they kick them off too easily unless you put shoes on them (of which i am not a fan of at all... too fiddly) so all in ones or pants with feet for my bubs.

But yeah, i love winter bubs and am thrilled to be having another one.

It's good to know that everyone else is as excited as me , I haven't had a winter bub since my 7yr old and it really wasn't that cold (she was born on the 29th of august), and that particular day was actually really hot, so I am looking forward to a nice warm baby to cuddle.:yelclap:

I just bought those NEW bonds suits, seem a bit summerish, but I am thinking wrapping them alot will make them nice and snug.

Is anyone else doing this as their aint much winter stuff out yet?

I was looking at those too Sheree. I thought they looked a bit thin, so didn't get any... but how snug to they look! LOL

As soon as i know the sex, i am sure i will be buying up big though.

Yeah they are a bit thin, and maybe not such a good idea for winter but I bought them, they are such a gr8 idea!

I love the bonds stuff too. It's so easy to use and to wash. As soon as we find out the sex of this baby I am going to be hitting the shops:D

It's pretty cold here in Melbourne in winter. We actually had a small heater with a thermostat in DD's room which we set on very low just to take the chill out of the air. My DH is a refrigeration mechanic so he was able to make sure the temp was set just right by monitoring it all night for a few days. Once we had the right setting we marked it off on the dials so it would always be perfect. This is probably not necessary unless you get really cold winter nights though :D

For winter we had to dress DD really warmly because she was a big wriggler and never ever stayed under a blanket.:hair: Even as a small baby I could never get her to stay wrapped up. Hopefully this baby will be more snuggly. It definitely helps with their sleeping if you can keep them wrapped up.

DD was 17th of June, I dressed her mainly in Wondersuits (single underneath) with a pair of socks so she had 2 layers on her feet, plus a cardy (easier to get on than jumpers) and blankets if we went out
Socks and onsies a must

I'm actually really nervous about having a winter baby - how many layers are a good idea? and we're in SE qld, but it gets really cold here at night, so would a heater be an idea? what type?

you think i'd be more relaxed since this is my 2nd bub, but i'm ever the stress-bunny :p

I think the general rule is dress them one more layer than you.

Heating - you shouldn't heat the room more than 16-18 degrees for sleeping, and the best type of heaters are the ones that don't suck all the surrounding oxygen in..... not sure which ones, ceramic ones or something

re: heaters...I think the oil heaters are suppose to be ok...Can't remember...

My first was a spring bub, but it was still a bit cool then, so the wondersuits, singlets, socks and onsies worked great...also the wrapping and so on...

I am happy to be pregnant again in autumn/winter as I tend to get very hot...I remember not needing a jumper/jacket last time as I felt warm all the time and sometimes sweaty...I don't know how I would cope with a summer bub or pregnancy...ouch

thanks phineas. bub is going to look like a marshmallow! I wear four or five layers in winter (yes, even in qld) cause I get cold so easily.

now I'm going to sound like a real noob, but what is the difference between a wondersuit and a onsies?

for me, wondersuits are the full length "onsie" but the no legs, do up at crutch (either long sleeve, short sleeve or no sleeve) are called onsies...not sure if that makes any sense at all...

I know I used the singlet type onsies under most clothes as they don't ride up like a singlet on a newborn and keep bub warm..these can also be used under the full piece wondersuit.
