Bleeding, really dark???

Hey, I hope someone here can help me. I had been kinda sure I was pregnant, thought I was having implantation pains, but just then I went to the bathroom and there was some blood there that looked almos black. On closer inspection it was a dark burgundy and thick.
Anyone ever had this/know what this means???
Sorry to be so panicky, but I realy don't know much about this early preg/trying stuff, and I can't ask my mum as she thinks we would be stupid to have a baby (I am still at uni, but husband has steady income).

Sometimes when you fall pregnant in the first couple of weeks you can get what is called " old blood". Normally this just goes away and doesnt mean anything bad is happening.
Do you have any stomach cramps?

I'm not an expert, but I'm sure I remember reading somewhere (lots of reading been done :o ) that it is quite common to have a little bleed when you would normally expect your period after you get pregnant.

Great to hear positive replies, I really do hope that's what it is! I just got a bit scared I guess cause it has never been that colour... though that should probably signify that it is probably not a period (so may be pregancy related).

Blades Mum: I have been getting fairly mild twingy pains very low down on mostly the right but a little on the left side (near my ovaries). Yesterday I did get one horrid pain down the right side of my body, further around to my back. Do these signify anything in your experience?

Feeling pretty good this morning, just noticed something I had not even thought of... bumpy skin; I have only every had about 10 pimples in my life so maybe something there.
Thanks for your support yesterday by the way, invaluable! I had no more fresh looking bleeding yesterday, just distinctly old blood. :D
I was wondering though, any of you ever had wind/more frequent number 2s in early conception? Sorry if that's a bit gross, but I have been embarassin myself all weekend! :o also hicupping quite a bit :confused:
Who knows hey? This is getting to be quite amusing actually, the whole "trying" thing.

Hi all,
Still no proper period here. I do have PCOS so no regular periods, but when not on the pill I usually have spotting most of the time. However nothing since that dark blood, and the bumpy skin is getting pretty annoying, I have those hot itchy bumps that you seem to see on teenagers. Yesterday I couldn't go to work as my muscles were so stiff I had trouble walking, yet fine today :confused:
I have been going on and off my food, mostly can eat it though, just nothing appeals to me except licorice!
I took a home preg test tonight which came out negative, VERY disapointing as I am sure you could imagine. I welcome any opinions, tips, advice going so feel free to comment girls! ;)

Hi bluegin, its sounds like your body is playing tricks on you, i was convince from your last post that your were expecting! Maybe you are but there is not enought pregnancy hormones in your body yet to show up? The best way to find out is to get a blood test then you will know for sure. I know you must be feeling all over the place at the moment , not knowing whats going on and all but hang in there, i know the waitting game is the pits :mad: . I was 8 weeks when i found out i was pregnant with my first, and that was thru a blood test, When i had missed my period i did a test the following week and it was negative so i waited two weeks and did another but it was still negative I thought my period wasnt coming because i was stressing for them to come( wasnt planning on having kids by this stage) I had a bit of a show for 1 day so i booked in to see the doctor, she did a pregnancy test and it was positive,it was in complete shock :eek: I then went for and ultrasound to find out i was 8 weeks and 6 days pregnant. Goodluck chicky! Ive read that its really common to have some dark blood around the time your period was due. So goodluck I have everything crossed for you.

However...down side. When I am stressed (like now) I tend to get black blood for about 2 days....light bleeding....then it will go away and about 3-4 days later my period will begin in full. :( (I'm waiting for it to start any hour now)

From what I understand you don't have to worry too much unless you have fresh (i.e. bright red blood) that doesn't stop, as well as cramping. I am sure its fine if its a one off! Good luck :)

Thanks guys :D I had an ultrasound last Friday, nothing showing, but not a sign of a period ever since that post, so I will do a home test tomorrow methinks.
Still pretty off all food except licorice and potato chips, I got out the juicer yesterday and an orange/carrot/ginger mix makes me feel great. The back is now fine, and little to no cramping... like you said Firstbub, it's playing tricks on me!!!
Hey Kathleen I am sending anti-period thoughts your way :mad: maybe pick up a baseball bat and ask if they wanna mess with you? hmmm, maybe not!

hi guys this is my first post on here - can't figure out this thing! just thought i'd let you know blue gin that i've had weird bleeding which im guessing is implantation bleeding as it was very light - with black, dark brown and a bit red blood - and im usually a 7-8d heavy. I too am feeling twinges on mostly my right side, but a bit on my left and i'm convinced that im preg. I'm been weeing alot, salivating alot - its so hard wondering if it's all in the mind hey? i have done 2 pg tests, but seeing as the bleeding only stopped 2 days ago maybe its too early. you just imagine that it will be easy to conceive huh. i also have a para ovarian cyst so i don't know if that could be it but it hasnt ever played up period wise. help!

Hiya Dragonfox! Hopefully you will find it easier to navigate the forum as you go along, as I am positive you will find tons of great advice here and get addicted like me!
As you can see by my post date, it was a couple of weeks ago, so an update for you; no bleeding since (supports my theory of implantation) and lower back pain, tummy cramps, yet I tested yesterday (for the 3rd time :o ) and still negative, so who knows!?!
I am not sure what happens when one or a couple of cysts develop, though my gynacologist said heaps of women get a couple of cysts everyso often and it is nothing to worry about usually. I would ask your friendly doc next time you are there though, just to settle your mind. This morning I had the tender nipple experience I have heard so much about on this forum, but I am starting to think my body is just playing a late April Fools joke on me!
Let us know how you progress though, I'd love to hear :)
