Sorry, think I put this in the wrong place before.

This is probably a really stupid question but oh well, I'd rather ask and look stupid than worry about it all day My DD is due for her 12 month needles and I am currently 22 weeks pregnant, when my doctor did my blood tests at the start of this pregnancy he told me that I have no immunity to Rubella / German Measles. Does anyone know if my DS getting her immunisation for Rubella could put me at any risk of getting it? Silly question, I know, but just thought I would check.

you will be offered a booster after you have the baby in hospital probably just before you go home, so by the time your baby has MMR you should be covered.

Does she get Rubella vacc at 12 mo? Mine didn't. I think it depends where you live.

From my understanding rubella is in the MMR injection scheduled for 12 months. I don't know if you could catch rubella from your DD having the injection, the only thing I would say is that it is a live injection ( ie has a small dose of live rubella virus in it). I would ask your ob or midwife they will tell you if it could be passed on. Don't think it is a silly question :)

Just looked at my Immunise Australia book that was given to me wheni had DS. It says having a pregnant mother shouldn't be a reason for delaying immunisation. But isn't clear if that includes non-immune pregnant mums. You could try their website or helpline. They are very pro immunisation though

Hope someone has a better/clearer answer for you
