I am interested in hearing feedback from people about this hospital as I am interested in having our next baby there..
I had a horrible birth experience with DD and am desperate to have a better one, I especially like the idea of a water birth..
I am in North Brisbane though, so I want to know if the logistics for getting there would be an issue, or if it would be worth it..
All feedback appreciated, thanks

DEFINITELY consider going there! I had DD there in July and it was absolutely fantastic. I went on the recommendation of another bubhubber who had had 3 babies in different hospitals and she thought Selangor was the best. She did say you need to book in relatively early as well (same with lots of private hospitals I think).
I live an hour away from Nambour but, even with the long car ride, I'll definitely be going there next time. The room was lovely, the people were fantastic, and the food was great!
Another bonus is that they allow waterbirths if that interests you.
I don't usually check this thread but feel free to pm me if you'd like any info.

Hi Butterfly Mama :)
I too had a terrbile first birth and so spent hours researching when I was pregnant with no 3 and we had moved to the Sunshine Coast.
Selangor was my choice for it's philosphies and practices. It's all about you and your baby there and I have now had two babies there (one ten weeks ago) and I would not go anywhere else!! Women travel from all round the world to birth there, it really is a leader in it's field.
Please PM me if you want more info, I would love to help.
This is my water birth story at Selangor (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=138593&page=2) in November last year, was just the most amazing experience, still gives me a warm glow 10 weeks later :cloud9:

Hi there I have just had my second
at Salengor and would have more just to go back. It is the best place to birth your children the staff are magical, esp Vicki (midwife) amazing woman!!! I birth my second in the water and it was the most amazing thing ever. Really seriously consider going here you wont regret it. Oh and I live at Burpengary and there were no dramas driving there, in fact it was probably easier that North West, no traffic, freeway driving the whole way! Good luck!

Wonderful feedback everyone, thank you!
For those that lived a while away from Nambour, how did you cope/manage the travel when you were in labour?

Labour tends to slow down for MOST in the car, my contractions were around 3 - 4 mins apart at home and stretched to 7 -9 mins apart in the car. If you are concerned give Salengor a ring and you can arrange a tour and the midwifes will chat with you then about car travel. The trip is normally around 40 mins for us, but it seemed like 5 when travelling, I think I was to focussed on my body to realise where we were and how much longer it was going to be. Good luck with your decision, I hope you choose Salengor, it truly is an amazing place FULL of amazing people.

I am a Registered Nurse that works at Nambour General. I have heard good things about Selengor and I Belive it is the best hospital on the coast if u want to go private. The only bad thing I heard from one person was that she was pressured into having a water birth when she didnt want it, but u dont have to worry about that do u! :)
I have chosen to have my baby at the general hospital as they are great there and the staff is great and I know I will be treated well. But if I did choose to go private I would choose Selengor. Good Luck!
This is my first bub and I am having it at Selangor. So far my experience there has been fantastic. Everyone is so warm and friendly and it is a nice environment.
I chose Selangor because I know a lot of people who've been there and they all have spoken highly of it.
I believe Pat Rafter's wife had her babies there, so I guess it mustn't be too bad? :p
