Do you use bottles that have been steralised and capped and kept in the fridge for more than 24hrs? (i.e NOT made up).. with or without boiled water in them?

Im only topping my DD up with formula at some feeds and dont often use many and find Im always steralising too many at once (my steraliser takes 6). I normally do 5 at a time (once a day) just incase i might need them all but often find Im having to re-steralise them and tip out the water in them because they have been in there for more than 24hrs...

will germs multiply in these bottles that are either empty or have boiled water in them and kept in the fridge?

You could sterilise the bottles, make sure they are completely dry and store them capped, ready for use.

Bacteria need three things to multiply - moisture, nutrients and air.

By storing them sterile and dry you're effectively taking away two of those things. I store my breastpump and bottles for Becky's EBM that way, in a big plastic box with a sealed lid. That way whenever I need to express they are all clean and ready to go.
