View Full Version : Caboolture Hospital
Just wanting some info on Caboolture hospital. I am currently 17 weeks pg and I am new to the area so was wondering what the process of booking into the hospital is and who referrs you for your scans etc. I have been seeing a GP and I went at 10 weeks and he said he would referr me to the hospital then, but I still hadnt heard anything. I then went back at 14 weeks and he couldnt find the heart beat so I went for a scan and he said to come back when I had the results, which I did a week later at 15 weeks. To which he said yes everything is ok, I will see you again in 4 weeks which will be week 19. I asked him about the scan for 18-20 which they check for adnormalties etc and he said the hospital will do that, I said with my son my GP referred me and he said ok I will give you a referral next time, which I will be 19 weeks and I think everybody knows how long of a wait there is to get in for ultrasounds. I then asked him about him referring me to the hospital and he said opps I havent done that will get onto it for you. It just seems weird, as with my son everything was done when everybody else kinda had things done but this time I feel like I am getting left behind. So was jsut wondering what everybody else thought etc., Ps I still havent heard from the hospital..And it cost me $75 every time I go to the GP
Thanks
Hi Bec, I have met you before at Krystal's, don't know if you remember me. I would ring the hospy and they will be able to make an appointment for you. Just ask for the anti natal clinic when you ring.
Hi Bec,
Firstly your doc seems like a real gerk is there another doctor you can see.
The midwifes at caboolture are really nice so give them a call and explain the situation, they do there 18-20 week scan there. They also have a program called holding hand, what it is during your cheak ups you will get 2-3 of the same midwifes and through your whole pregnentcy and birth you will have the same midewifes (the 3 rotating) so that your not seeing someone different all the time.
But you have to ask them about it and tell them if thats what you want on your 1st or 2nd visit.
I had my DD there this time last yr and i had a very happy and positive birth, is a great hospital.
Good luck

First of all call the hospital and explain your situation to the AnteNatal Clinic. I know that they do get busy and the sooner they can book you in for a scan (at no expense to you) the better.
If you can, get into the Holding Hands program cause they are FANTASTIC. I loved all the girls.
Also I would look at changing Dr. Go with the 100% care option at the hospital, they'll have you in every 4 weeks or so and you only see one person.
Good luck and I'm sorry to hear that you've been stuffed around so much at the time you need it the least.
Welcome to the area BTW

Oh yeah I forgot to add that my Dr is great and they bulk bill so you wont be out of pocket. They are called Morayfield Shopping Centre Medical Centre, on Leda Boulevard at the Big W end of the Morayfield Shopping Centre (they're opposite Bob Jane T Marts. Dr Mishra or Dr Sophia are both great.
Also I don't know if the hospital ever contacted me after the referral. I'm pretty sure my GP printed out a referral letter and I just rocked on down to the hospital and did it all in person.
Thanks everyone for your replies. I rung the hospital this morning and got this lovely lady, who said I should have been booked in around 12 weeks and that she would make an appt for me and then they will look after me from now on. She was very helpful. I cant get in till the end of Feb as they are that busy, so I wont have long to go till the bubba is born.. Some doctors are just annoying. Thanks for the suggestion of doctors to will have to check them out..
Thanks again..:)

Just wanting to wish you well at Cab Hosp. I am another mummy who went through the holding hands team and had a very positive experience...it was almost like having private care and it was comforting to see a familiar face each time (midwife). I had to spend over a week at hospi and each and every midwife there was nice and supportive. Hope you too have a positive birthing experience. Best of luck.
