I'm coming across a lot of people having a lot of issues falling pg... like with PCOS and stuff.
I've also heard somewhere that long term use of the Pill can effect fertility.
So I thought I'd run a poll to see....
When did you start taking the Pill, and did you fall pregnant easily/with difficulty/still trying.
Poll Coming
copied from the other thread :D
i started the pill when i was 16... came off it when i was 20ish (to start trying for Brayds) it took us nearly 2 years to conceive him 'unexplained infertility' the dr even put it down to the pill...
when ttc this bub we found out i have PCOS, so 19months ttc this time...
so i dont know if it was the pill. or the PCOS, or a mix... i dnt think ill ever know... but i wont ever go back on the pill, just in case

Is it possible that PCOS could be caused by early Pill use???? As it disrupts a cycle before it is 'fully mature'?
(just a question, not a statement)
hmmm i just had a thought...
i wonder if there is a link between starting the pill young and having trouble ttc compared to starting it in say your 20s?

I was on the pill from age 18 - 20, went on Implanon from 20 - 23 and pill again until 23.5... fell pregnant first cycle.

okay so say we say 'starting young' means starting at 16-17 or younger.
Maybe it makes a difference in years on it....
like say if you start at 17, but are only on it till 19, then not so bad...
but if you start at 17 and then don't come off till 23/24... maybe harder...
would be interesting to find out....

I believe the pill is nothing but trouble. See my story in my sig for what happened with us. I just don't want to play with my body again by injecting synthetic hormones, just doesn't seem right. I think the pill masks symptoms of infertility such as PCOS and allows it to get worse without you knowing.
yeah basically... i know my sister (19now) doesnt have PCOS, was on the pill from 14, is having trouble ttc...
and my sis (16 now) has been on the pill since 12, has pcos and thought the pill was messing with her cycle about 14months ago and stopped it, unprotected sex since and has only just got preg...
so its really hard to know...?!
thinking back to what you were saying before gret...
starting it young (the pill) maybe it does have something to do with messing with your body while its (your body) still growing?
maybe we should become scientists and find out

i was on the pill for about 5 years (started at 16 and fell pregnant at 21).
i fell with DD while taking it everyday at the exact time and never skipping or forgetting one.
i have not taken it since, and my last 2 babies i have fallen a month before we started trying (i guess we are **** at planning things lol)

I didn't take the pill for long, and while I didn't TTC my daughter, I fell pregnant within 4 months of the relationship beginning, so I think that says my fertility was not affected. I think I took it only for 4 months... then had a big break without it... then had DD.

:iagree: I have always thought this about the pill - it just doesn't seem 'of nature' or God or whatever you want to say - it goes against the basic functions of a woman's body. I have never taken it nor would I recommend my daughter (if I ever have one) to take it - who knows what it does to your body in the long term?
BUT! I certainly don't judge anyone else's reasons for taking it - I have never had bad acne or period pain, for e.g., so maybe my feelings would be different if the pill had given me some relief in this area. Truly, I don't care if any other lady takes it or allows their daughter to take it - it's just my own personal feelings regarding it for me and my family.
For the record I voted no for taking the pill and no for any troubles ttc.

I was on the pill from 14 and came off it when i was 16-17 and started ttc it took us 8 months to concieve dd.
I conceived ds after 2 months no trouble at all,i coneived again by accident but lost the baby.
We have been ttc#3 now for nearly 8 months with no success.
I have pcos which i found out about 8 months ago that i had it.
Personally i think it was the pill that caused me to get it and stopped me from falling pregnant easily.I wont be having any hormones to stop me from falling pregnant again. We'll be using other form of contraception.

I started taking the pill at 15 due to really heavy periods and it seemed to help. I came off it in June last year, in order to TTC. So I was on the pill for 13 years with no breaks :o
OMG that's a long time!
I got pregnant within about 6 weeks of going off the pill so I don't think it affected my fertility at all. Although who knows what the future holds?

i was on the pill from 15-25 with no break. We have now been trying for nearly 2 and 1/2 years with 'unexplained infertility'. Can't help but wonder sometimes if being on the pill for so long made a difference?

Being on the pill actually helps PCOS as in helps to regulate cycles etc obviously you dont ovulate but it regulates otherwise.
My sister has PCOS has a lot of trouble falling pg was basically told my nephew was a 'miracle' because her body pretty says that she isnt pg even when she is so misscarries. Being on the pill is the only time it settles for her & she has regular periods etc. She only started on the pill in her early twenties for a year or so before coming off to TTC. It took 5yrs with over 10 miscarriages.
