Hi
Just wondering what to do when DD wakes up too soon. On occasion i have rocked her back to sleep, but don't want to do this because she has been self settling so well. (don't want to confuse her) Also, once she see's me- thats it. On rare occasions she willwake after half an hour - roll over and go back to sleep but mostly wakes and yells out to me after about half hour. Do I put a toy or something in her cot to distract her from standing up and looking for me, in the hope she dozes off again?

Yeah, when CJ was little. I used to had a toy in there & thats what he would do.... doze back to sleep but he was about 9 months or so I think. Sorry I'm not much help! :o

Hi

If my bubs wakes up early from a nap I will give her a few minutes to see if she'll resettle by herself, which she may do a third of the time. If not, I just get her up and accept she just wanted a catnap. Usually she'll just be ready for another nap sooner.

She just gets too worked up if I try and make her sleep longer and then we're both stressed.

I'd suggest that she needs to self settle. Babies should be sleeping for 1 and 1/2 hr slots min.. Unless of course they are dropping the sleep that's norm for their age.

I would normally do controlled comforting for half an hr if my DS woke out of a sleep and it has been less than 1 and 1/2 hrs. If he doesn't go back to sleep after 30mins of controlled comforting, i get him up. Keep going with my routine and try again next time.

I think you'll find this is what sleep clinics will reccommend. Otherwise bubs will only ever do 45 mins sleeps.

Hope this helps.
