Hi everyone!

My 19 month old daughter currently attends full time childcare at a childcare centre in the CBD. (We've just transferred her from a horrific ABC Centre, but that's another story)

I have just started full time study towards my degree and I'm thinking ahead to future childcare arrangements whilst studying.

A lady who I work with has said that once children are 3 years old, they can attend kindergarten, which is a whole lot cheaper than childcare. She advised to get in touch with my local council?

As you can imagine, I'm a bit confused. (I've been overseas for the last 17 years) How does it work?

Can someone help?

They have 3 year old kinder through the council but its about $600 a year, it is only for 3 days though at 5 hours. Thats how it was 12 mths ago when i was in melbourne. They have 3 year old kinder in childcare too but it would be dearer i imagine.

You are best to check out your local council to find out about 3yo sessions they are cheaper though
