Yep they are called devils on horseback and are very yummy!
The salty flavour of the bacon mixed with the sweetness of the prune is a perfect match!
Try them for sure. I make them for dinner parties to serve with drinks and most people love them.
I grill mine on a very low heat and keep turning them. Also cut most of the fat from the bacon or they are too fatty tasting.
I recently made some with prosicuto (I think thats how you spell it!) they turned out even better than bacon as the meat then its alot thinner - these were my gourmet version!
Good luck!

my aunty suggested another wrapped in bacon treat - banana!
same thing you wrap a piece of banana in bacon and grill/fry - sounds pretty yum to me!!
apparantly these types of finger foods were all the rage in the 70's at dinner parties along with fondeu (sp) and all that..... I wasn't born then so I guess i'll have to enjoy them now :)
i have done a bit of catering in the past and i always found that rockmelon wrapped in proscuitto to be a firm favourite.... no cooking required.
Yup 'Devils on Horseback' also nice with an almond inside the prune! I use the superthin bacon you can buy in the supermarkets. makes them alot less greasy.
Just grill or oven bake them until the bacon is cooked to your liking. You can also put them on the BBQ.
'Angels on Horseback' are oysters wrapped in bacon.
I haven't tried the banana and bacon ones. Sounds indulgent though!
Something else to try as a meal is a chicken thigh fillet with a prune or 2 inside and wrapped in bacon then baked in the oven. My DH would eat 10 of these if I let him!
