Hi all,
We are struggling to decide on a boys name, but the problem i have is this: I (and hubby) quite like the name Jaiden/Jayden but i am a bit worried that everyone will think of that poor little boy Jayden Leskie that was murdered!! Don't you hate it when a bad association spoils a name?! Is this what pops in to other peoples minds as well or am I being ridiculous?

When I first starting reading your email and saw the name Jayden, Jayden Leski did not pop into mind. Go with the name you like. I think any name you pick people with have an opinion on, but hey thats their problem!!
We're having a girl (I think), but if was a boy we were going to call him Jay. Nice and simple, but not as common as Jayden etc. Might be an option for you guys if you like it.
I don't think people will really think of J Leskie though, Jayden is a pretty popular name these days.

Same here, I didn't think Jayden Leski until I read it.
Jayden is a lovely name but if YOU are going to associate it with something bad then find another one. Maybe something that sounds similar like Jordan or something.

Jayden Leskie didn't even pop into my mind. Love the name - you should go with what you love as well.

As the others have said, go with what you want...
I really like the name Jayden, but if you're worried about the connection, how about changing it to Kayden?
Good luck in finding a name for your bub. It's great fun, isn't it? :)
Hi GypsyG
It didn't occur to me until you said it and I know a Jayden or too as well. So it isn't an association to me.
Go ahead and use it, I think that if you look hard enough, you can find a negative association with any name.
Cheers
Im sorry but that is the first thing i thought of :(
My cousins daughter is Jayden and everytime i hear her name i think about it aswell

That's the first thing I thought of, and the first thing I think of when I ever hear that name.

We have a little boy in our Mum's group called Jayden and it has never occurred to me until now when I read you post. We also have a Kaden in our group - which is similar, might be an option for you if you can't get past the association involved with Jayden.

I guess if you're from Victoria the whole tragedy was played out in front of the media so much that it's not something you can forget.

Personally, I don't think it is relevant, just go with the names that you like. Just about everybody's name can be associated to someone anyway.
Friend's of ours have a Jayden and I have never thought about associating the name to Jayden Leski until you mentioned it in this thread.
Jayden and Jaiden are pretty popular names right now anyway.

Sorry, but that's the first thing I do think of when I hear the name (just being honest). What about Hayden or, as others have suggested, Kaden/Kayden?
I know quite a few kids with that name and i have associated it with the leski baby.
If you like that name, go for it

Just a thought, Jayden is REALLY popular now...are you happy with him being one of many in his school year?
Hi I love Jayden my son is called Jayden, When he was born it wasn't popular and no one related it to the Jaiden Leski boy, and i look at it from this way in 20 years that story will be forgotten anyway! It's a beautiful name, i wonder why everyone says it's popular i have only met one other Jayden.
In my area there are heaps of James's and Michael's and Emilys and Ella's but no other Jaydens. By the way the meaning of Jayden is beautiful (God has heard), i didn't realise this till after he was born.
That's the first thing I thought of, and the first thing I think of when I ever hear that name.
Me too :( Such a gorgeous name though

Me too, it always makes me sad to hear the name.
My nephew was going to be Jayden but then the Leskie tragedy happened and my SIL couldn't do it.

I didn't even think of that till I read it :)
i think its a great name
I love the name azaria for a girl, but everytime i think of it it reminds me of azaria chamberlain and the whole dingo stole my baby thing. That happened 25 years ago and i am only 25 and still think of it. i would probably still name my daughter that if i really wanted too, but i have a zahli now so it is too similar. family and friends will associate jayden with your son and not with jayden leski so if you want to do it then go ahead and do it. i didnt think of that when you first mentioned the name.
