My 14 month old DD Is trying to drop her 2nd nap.....i'm sure of it. She has about an hour and a half in the morn but when I try and put her down for her second one she cries non stop untill I get her up again. She sometimes cries for half an hour and still doesn't go to sleep.

She is great going to sleep at night and in the mornings, no probs at all.

But she does seem tired.....like she NEEDS a 2nd nap........but just won't have one.

This has been going on for about a a week now.

What age did your little ones drop their 2nd nap???

My DS didn't have any day sleeps at all from about 18mths old. Maybe you could make the morning nap later, even if that means a late lunch for a while.
My DS is almost 3 now and occasionally has a nap in the afternoon, but most days he is just horrible by 4pm coz he is tired.

Tilly started doing this about the same time, i find if she goes down to early now, she seems to need a second one, but wont have one, like Anna, so now i try to keep her up till about 11, mabye 12 (deoending on the mood she is in, lol) and then she just has one big one instead.

Chloe dropped her 2nd nap over 3 to 4 weeks at around 13 months old. During that transition her naps were all over the clock and varied from 1.5 hours each to 3 hours each. Some days she'd have a single long nap in the late morning, other days she'd be obviously exhausted earlier so would end up with a mid morning nap and then another in late afternoon. I tried to just follow her needs and not worry about the time on the clock. Her 2nd nap might start as late as 4pm, so bedtime would get shifted back a bit.

I also continued to follow a rough feed-play-sleep routine (or feed-play-snack-play-sleep), so that if she had a late morning nap then lunch would be delayed till after she woke up at 1 or 2pm, but if she'd had an earlier morning nap lunch might be at 11am.
