hi guys i know this thread has probably been done a thousand time over but i am hoping to get more replies. Im holding a naming day for my son (a good friend of mine is doing it) and i need advice on how the ceremony should take place. Anyone know of any sample poems for a boy? or what sorts of things you put in a naming day poem so i can write one myself.

Anyone know of any good sites??? Any other information would be GREAT!! Any samples of poems! ANYTHING ANYTHING ANYTHING!

I would like to write the poem myself so its more personal but have no idea what to write...do i just write about his life and what he has brought to ours etc.??

Thanks everyone for reading this i know its been done a thousand times over!

Hi! I was searching on the net for naming day information and it put me to this site. I was reading thru the forum and was wondering if you would be able to help me out and send me a copy of your naming ceremony. My little man is 8.5 months and we are having his naming day and first birthday combined.
As i have gone back to work part time i thought that i better get started or i will be trying to organise it the day before. lol :D

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

For our naming day we asked everyone not to bring presents- you know the usual money boxes ets but instead to bring a symbol of something you wished for the child.

Some examples of what people brought
- rhunes & crystals to symbolise different things like peace, hope

- Some pebbles from someones favourite beach 'that he may always have a special place to go and think'

Celtic symbols for various things

Horeshoes for good luck

Cuff links- that he may be a gentleman

A joke book- that he may always keep his sense of humor

A pressed leaf- that he may appreciate nature.

and lots more great ideas....

Everything is kept in a box for him to keep when he's adult and there was a guest book where everyone wrote what their gift was.
It's a great idea that gets people thinking about what they see as important in life.

Just thought I'd share this idea with you all.
