I need some help!!!
We have some friends coming over from Perth at Easter time to spend a few days with us and they are made wine drinkers. I was thinking of maybe spending the day in the Barossa Valley and hitting some wineries.
I have never been there myself and was wondering what wineries are good and is there any good wineries to stop and have lunch which is resonably priced and kid friendly????
TIA!!!!! ;)
Will tell you about the ones we went when we catch up next, we spent about 5 days there so saw quite a few :D
I lived in the Barossa for 3 years and as sad as this sounds I didn't know much about the touristy side of things. However we recently went there to take MIL who is from London wine tasting.
We paid someone to take us around anywhere we wanted to go and I knew of the fairly common wineries like Seppeltsfield, Penfolds (I know ppl that work there) Vinecrest (which is a small winery) Peter Lehmann, Wolfblass, Orlando, Yalumba (in Angaston) etc so we went to those places. There are lots of other small ones around though too, Basedow wines which is owned by Grant Burge now and the name has changed to something starting with an 'I' which I forget, its on the main road into Tanunda. Also Jacobs Creek in Rowland Flat is a popular one.
All of those wineries are worth looking at, DH and MIL bought a couple of bottles in each one. We also went to Maggie Beer, which isn't so much wine but dips, sauces, icecream, oils etc but its a great spot sitting on a river so you can see ducks and turtles and stuff its really cool. A great atmosphere.
As for lunch we went to Vintners, which is quite pricey but VERY nice. A place with a set menu is Kaisler wines, which is about 25 bucks per person. Another nice place to eat is 1918 (I think its called) in Tanunda just near the rotunda. I am not sure about lunch at any particular winery though.
If you want to know anything else feel free to PM me and I may be able to be of some help lol otherwise, have a great time, its a beautiful place
ETA : Oh u will find most places are very child friendly!! We were gonna take DS but my mum offered to babysit last min, so they thought we were bringing a child so I asked if it was all child friendly and they said Yep very much so!!

Oooh I love Annies Lane :bee:
Hi Kylie,
Sean and I have been to the Barossa several times, and we even stayed there for a couple of nights before kids.
Our favourite wineries which we always visit are Grant Burge, Wolfblass, Peter Lehmann, Elderton.
If you just want to go and have a platter we went to Peter Lehmann and sat outside as there was a big grass area. You could always buy something from the deli for Mitchy to have for lunch.
The Barossa is such a beautiful place. There is a Barossa Tourist Book which you would be able to get your hands on which is fantastic. I will have a look and see if I can find where you can get it from.
Just ask me if you want any more help. I love the place.

Brauhaus Hotel - Angaston
Angaston Hotel - Angaston
Tanunda Hotel - Tanunda
Has anyone been to any of these?
If I can use the vouchers great but if not no big deal!!!
 Brauhaus Hotel at Angaston would be my recommendation of the 3

COOL thanks!!!

What are the chances??! I was going to suggest the EXACT same 4!!! We LOVED all of these! Grant Burge reds are some of our faves. I've never had a bad one!
I would say Brauhaus in Angaston, too. I love Angaston. So quaint and picturesque.
Makes me wanna book a trip to the Barossa!!!! :D
Oh, and I'm a big Annie's Lane fan, too.
Well there you go nan. Great minds think alike, thats all I can say. :yelclap:
Maybe we should do a trip to the barossa.

Here are my 2 cents worth - well really hubbies as I don't drink wine. I am just the designated driver!
Rockfords - best wine in district if you can get your hands on the Basket Press!
Jacob's Creek - just because it's so recognisable - great marketing
Peter Lehmanns' - because they treat you really well. We take a picnic hamper there and it is lovely.
All family friendly. DH said Saltram's for lunch but as he has not had children yet he is not thinking as a father. Lovely but not for kiddlets! I prefer the picnic option then your DD can run around and feed the ducks.
