Hi all,

I have been breastfeeding DS for 4 months now, and still can't work out a way of breastfeeding in public without flashing my E cups to anyone who happens to be looking! I find latching on is okay, its just the hold I can't master - the 'C' hold is a bit uncomfortable & awkward, and the cradle hold seems to flash the sides - sorry TMI!! I'm so envious of Mums with neat boobs that hide away when feeding!

Any hints anyone? I'm desperate!

Thanks,

Hi Bella,

I am an E cup girl myself and the only thing I can say is try not to worry about it.......easier said than done I know. I feed with the cradle hold. I normally wear tops and lift up one side only from the waist, that does not expose too much (in my opinion).

I sort of think that when the nipple is not exposed it is relatively discreet and the babies head covers that (most of the time).

I am also an E cup when feeding - I found that t-shirts were better than other tops - to be honest I was more worried about the roll around my waist being on display than my boob:o . AT least by four months they are starting to get to the point where their head is bigger than your breast - in the early days they look so small next to the large breast:o .

One option is to drape a muslin or something over your shoulder and over their head - it has the advantage that when they start getting distracted it reduces the distractions for them when you are feeding out in public (so they aren't pulling off to gawk at everyone and show the world your now very long nipple!)

Another option that I haven't tried myself but thought I would if I have another are the new feeding tops - if you go to the home page of bubhub there is a competition about one of the brands - so you aren't lifting up your top, and can use the top to cover a bit more of the ever expansive flesh (well - that is what it felt like!)

Good luck with it all. The good thing is that with number 2 I really didn't care anymore - between trying to feed her and keep an eye on number 1 I had no time to think about what was or wasn't showing!

hi mummies,

I was the same but i would always carry my trusty purple scarfe or shawl it was see through but it coverd what i needed it to cover while out and about and it was light and quite hipp, i still take it everywhere, in my hair ,around my shoulders, to cover the pram when bubbies asleep and my daughter even wares it around her hips with jeans shes 15 so gosh that opp shop scarfe has been a bargain.:smiliedance:

cheers.

I've tried some of the feeding tops and found them a hassle. For me they were either a pain to open and do back up, or you pull them down and to the side to feed and all you see is massive fleshy boossy. I now go with looser fitting shirts that I pull up or button front shirts with a stretchy singlet underneath (singlet that I can pull down so really stretchy).

I was really uncomfortable with belly roll so used to wear singlet under all my shirts which I would pull down to feed. This meant my belly was covered while Tshirt was pulled up and so were fleshy mounds. Wasn't practical once it got really hot so I tended to use burping hand towel over my shoulder or laying under bubs head depending what was exposed. I found wraps and scarves too big and soft. I was constantly trying to adjust them without disturbing the monster.

FYI a little off topic but relevant for us larger chested BF gals, I was able to pick up a maternity sports bra from myer. I really struggled with lack of support when exercising (really can't wait to wear an underwire again) so was stoked to find they make maternity sports although I had to order size in.

I'm now an E cup thanks to breastfeeding and I like you, don't like flashing my boobs, even in front of family! I made a poncho of sorts which allows me to BF in public. DD is happy underneath and I can look through the top but others can't :D

I think you can buy BF shawls, but it's easy enough to make one.

Good luck!

Thanks for all your help everyone - I really like the shawl/poncho idea ;) - it could be the solution to my problems! (Especially because DS sees something interesting and moves his head to look at it quickly and takes my nipple with him!).

The one and only comfortable way to breastfeed with bigger boobs is lying down - guess you can't do that in public though!!:D

I am an E cup too!
Off the topic a bit..... I just want to know will my boobs ever go back to their origional size?
Pre Preg i was 12C, Now at 8 months Breast Feeding I am 14E!
I find them really Uncomfortable, i dont' fit any clothes, anything size 14 won't fit around my chest and anything larger sags and looks too big for the rest of my body! :banghead:
I just want to go back to my normal size or at least a tad smaller than i am now.
Anyone know if this dream will ever come true?
