I was telling my friend about something cute that DS did the other day and she said I should keep a little journal.

Write down the date and jot down little quirky cute things DS does etc

I thought this was a really lovely thing to do, I mean I have the whole s**** booking thing happening at home and daycare does the portfolio thing BUT I dont really put little things that make him him in it iykwim:D

So I started one the other day, what do you all think?

Do you write stuff down in a diary/journal or do s**** booking/portfolios????

cos c r a p is a 'naughty' word :)

I think its a lovely idea to keep a journal of those little moments...I always intended to, but somehow I can never keep it on track, much like my pregnancy diary, that went skew-if!

A great thing for you and your child to look back on in later years :)

It took me ages to work out what you were saying with the *** - the program has a few glitches by the looks of it!!

I have always meant to keep a journal......but never have. I do an entry for each birthday and milestone but miss the little things. I do send emails about them to the grandparents though so often think I should print off all the emails as a record of their life....but the paper mountain would be very high!!

It is a fantastic idea S, one that I may have to steal ! :D

When we were on hol's last month we visited my aunt & she had kept some drawing's and cards we sent her as kids, it was amazing reading something I had written when I was 8 and I always thought I was hopeless at drawing, but they were pretty good.

So, not only will you get enjoyment out of reading O's journal when he is older, I am sure he will too!

I have a journal for the first year of Ry's life - complete with photos. It's pretty long but I'll send a bit to you to look at if you like !

I then bought a really pretty little book the other day and started putting things in there - special events and thoughts etc.

I need to print out the journal and present it properly but I'm glad I did it.:yelclap:

Hi S

I think it's a great idea. :yelclap: I started a journal for J when she was about 10 months old. I just make entries when ever i think of it. I address it like a letter to her and tell her things she is doing or saying or an event we may have been to.

I would love to read something like this about me when i was a baby.

I started a journal when I found out I was pg. I still continue writing in one when I can, its hard to find time now. I like to look back over them from time to time. :)

I have been keeping a little journal for DS starting from when he was born. I usually note things in my day-to-day diary, and when I have time, I go through and put it is his book. I don't record everything little thing, just milestones or funny incidents. I really like it, and don't think I will ever hand over to DS! :)

Hiya nemomum (ive only just realised that youve got a new username!!! doh),

We've been (well Joshua did anyway) keeping our journal uptodate, we put down everything from the moment I found out that I was expecting until now-whats Thomas's up to etc, every single movements etc into our website's journal. Oh btw you can get a free blog/journal site, PM me and I will be happy to teach you how to do it, its funky and easy to use. :)

I started a journal for my second son, mainly because I found I had forgotten so much stuff from my first baby and it was only 2.5 years earlier. The time really flies and although you can't slow it down by writing about it is great to read back and remember.

I write down things every week or so like 'today was the first time mummy and daddy took you to :ecomcity: :ecomcity:

I am doing scrapbooking so print these off every now and then and put them in the scrapbook like a little story. I dont know if he will appreciate it or hate it when he is older, but I want to remember these things/

Great Idea S (and V.Cute about the Peggy/Piggy!)

I've still got Ry's baby book and the journal I wrote for him (up to 12 months), then I'm going to do a yearly update as well.

I also started scrapbooking this week but have only done two pages so far:o but it looks fantastic ! All of his professional photos are in yet another book.

I now have another pretty little book that I use to write things in and Ry has just finished his first sketchbook ! (I bought a blank sketchbook and crayons and he has only about a page or two left.)

Poor darlin', he's going to need a trailer when he leaves home

I started journalling for my kids when I was preg too, I put in cute little things they say/do, what there favourite activities and toys are, if they go to kinder-what activities they enjoy there, what there weight and height is, what clothes size they are wearing that kind of thing. I also have an online site with a page dedicated to each of them that I update in a more brief but similar fashion.

My journals for each are kept in a special box with our little special things that relate directly to 'me and them' in my sons there are a lot of sticker photos of us and passport photo type things, then theres christmas cards from me to him and 'him' to me and lots of things like that.

In my daughters atm its all 'me to her' things.

I also have there memory boxes from when they were newborns full of there first clothes, hospital bands, the teddy that stayed in my sons humidicrib with him and the badges off his humidicrib... etc etc

Have just started one for Alex which has some of his baby clothes in it as I cant have one for the others and not for him!

With the boys kinder drawings and work I keep it ALL in special folders for them.

I don't want to forget anything lol
