to know out of all the natural multiple pregnancies, how many of you have twins or multiples 'running in your family'???
Everyone always says that twins skip a generation but I truly believe thats not the case.
Twins run in my family on my mothers side. 2 of my nans sisters had twins and then 2 of my mums sisters had twins. I always wondered what the chances are of me having twins :)

I read somewhere on the stats re having twins if they run in your family - but I forget! It was significantly higher than just random. Twins run on my mum's side, she had twins, her grandmother had twins and her cousins also. I would say your chances are pretty high, and will increase between the ages of 35-39

I don't have, nor are multiples in my family, but I've read that it goes by the mother's genes. As in if your Mum, her Mum, etc had them, you're very likely to conceive multiples too. Not so much if it comes from your Dad's side though.
My bestie is having fraternal twins and there isn't any twins in either side families, she just happen to released 2 eggs the month they conceived.

 Thats pretty much my story. All the best to your friend. Twins are double the trouble a little of the time, but double the fun so much of the time.

My mum's a twin and there are twins every second generation on her side of the family. She always said that my sister or I would end up with twins and so far she's right....

ok, i found in a book on twins last night that - if your mother was a twin, if you are a twin, or if you have twin siblings - then your chances of conceiving twins is 5X higher. That is, you have a 1 in 20 chance or greater to have twins. Good luck!

my aunty (at 41) and cousin (at 16) had non identical twins not sure about history before this and my Partners cousin had identical twins, id love to be blessed with twins one day.
no twins in my side of the family, I have also read, that, as age increases and if you already have 3 or more children, the chances of twins also increases again even more.

My nan was a twin and she gave birth to triplets (identical boys and one non) and now i am expecting twins!i am not sure wether my mother has been pregnant with twins or not and misscarried them but i too beleive that twins dont skip generations.i think it is a myth.
