Hi,

Does anyone else feel they spend the half the day watching their bub work it through?

I know their systems are still developing, but I'd like to think that there's a way to make it easier.

DS will be 12 weeks on Monday, and is very healthy. But I'd just like to help him if there's any way possible.

The doctor said that that's just the way it is, and it will seem like a saga. But I don't cop that. I'm sick of people saying "that's how it is", "can't do anything about it". I'm sure there's something I can do, and I believe this attitude of "nothing can be done" to me means they just "don't know" what to do. Doesn't mean that there isn't anything - surely...

Does anyone have any suggestions that worked for them?

I give my DD pureed prunes every second day...works a treat. Your little one would be to young for this though.

hehe, certainly is. But I'm having prunes myself in the hope that he gets a little of them ;) And I'm making sure I get all my good oils.

I've also tried gripe water, bicycle legs, massage - they all help a bit, but I want to make it a lot easier for him if I can...

You could try some water with a little brown sugar dissolved in it? Worked for DD1 when she was little, then again, she was bottle fed so made it a bit easier....

Bath time does seem to help a little, but I always do a little massage afterwards too.

We're still trying to get him to take a bottle of ebm. He spits the bottle out... If I give him water I have to use a syringe.

I have found that if we put DD in the baby bjorn and take her for a walk, when we take her out she usually then does a big poo, I think the up/down motion of walking gets her bowels moving.

Hehe, would explain the poo incident we had in the shopping centre today. I had him in the sling, and after browsing a few shops, felt something wet on my hand when I patted his little bum. Ended up having to clean the both of us up in the car before I could do the grocery shopping.

Good call though, looking back he seems to poo a bit when in the sling. Might try that tomorrow. Maybe it's the pressure on his belly too, soothing and helps him relax.

Thanks everyone for the tips, might try an onslaught of some of them tomorrow and see if I can't make it a bit easier for him.

:D

I have the ocean wonders aquarium swing... every morning when he gets up and he is having trouble doing one I put him in there and presto we have poo... he does his best work in the swing .. as others have said it's the movement that gets them going ..it's also good for wind as well.. he farts like a trooper in it...

I thought I was the only one with this problem too. Believe me it is more common than you think! I found with my boy (now 8 months) that I had to keep it very regular - within a couple of hours EVERY day. If not I resorted to a medicated option (available at chemist)... If I wasn't this vigilant we would have major probs... Now he is older i swear by pears!

Good Luck,
My thoughts are with you!
