Hi everyone! Could someone please help me?

I have a son who was born on Jan 10th so is 2 weeks old today. Everything has been going great until the last couple of days or so where he isn't settling properly.
He has been very squrimy when he is sleeping, therefore not getting a proper sleep, he seems to be in a pain as he arches his back, pulls his legs up etc.
He is better if he is sleeping with me, but of course i can't hold him all the time. He is on formula & is drinking between 80-100ml p/feed & loves it.
I have also been putting Gripe water in his bottles to help prevent & get rid of any wind but so far that hasn't helped. Nearly every time i change his nappy he has done a poo but in the last couple of days it seems to be causing him pain when he does a poo. His poos are not too hard or too soft & they are the correct colour for his age so i am getting very confused!

I also have an 18 month old daughter so i am getting very exhausted & worried.
My daughter had no problems with colic or anything as a baby so i'm not too sure what signs to look out for?!
i'm sorry if i have rambled on or is i don't make any sense but any advice would be appreciated!
thanks!!

Hi, Bella has colic and her "symptoms" were different to what you're describing so you can probably rule it out.
She would feed, be awake for a bit and then go to sleep only to wake up a very short while later and cry. And cry and cry and cry. It was a real scream / cry that made me once strip her off as I thought something was biting or stinging her.
The paed said that the way she cried and the intervals at which she would cry pointed to colic of her bowel. I have medicine for her to relax the bowel to stop food being trapped and causing pain.
I haven't had to deal with a reflux baby so I'm not sure if that's what you're dealing with, but you can try the reflux association website for more info.
If it is doing your head in, though, you should seek advice from a good pead.
Good luck,
Robyn.

You could try some infant gaviscon in his feed, it may be acid reflux the symptoms you wrote sounded alot like my bub. Sometimes just pushing when trying to poo can also increase acid reflux if thats what it is. Talk to your doc, its really difficult to take care of everyone and try and get sleep. DD3 had silent reflux and was back arching from about 5 days old, she wouldn't sleep for long and would demand to be fed frequently to get rid of the acid. The GP told me to try infant gaviscon and it worked for a little while and gave her some relief.

Good luck let us know how you are going
