I have been drinking Raspberry leaf tea, but I find that it gives me heartburn. So, today I bought some R/L tablets. I just read the bottle and it says to take 3 tablets 4 to 5 times per day:eek:
That sounds like alot. Is it really necessary to take that much?
I am already taking fish oil, magnesium, zinc, and iron tablets and will be starting EPO soon too. I feel like I am constantly popping pills:o

Hi monkeytoes
The bottle I have says take 2 tablets three times a day with meals. What brand did you buy???? I always get Blackmores and never had any problems. In fact after taking it for approx three days, I went into labour spontaneously - I was meant to be induced a few days later.

Hmmmmm...........mine are Blackmores too. It says each tablet contains the equivalent of 300mg of dry leaf. And I have just triple checked it definately says 3 tablets 4 to 5 times per day.

Hmmmm.... you got me thinking so I rechecked my bottle (84) tablets. It definately does say 2 tablets 3 times a day with meals.
I have also just had a look at the Blackmore website and it appears the one I have has the old label (it appears they have changed labels); maybe they have changed the ingredients or something and hence the dosage is different.
Check out the website and you will see what I mean. Maybe you should phone Blackmores and speak with someone there and double check it (for your own peace of mind).

Thought I would add, that depending on the dosage of raspberry leaf contained within the tablets/capsules alters how many they say to take per day.
But I have actually found out that the tablets are the most ineffective way to take raspberry leaf as it is so processed it looses most of the goodies.
If you're finding that the tea isn't agreeing with you, you could always go to a naturopath or herbalist and get them to make up a fresh tincture for you. This is the best and most effective way to take herbs, so i've found out.
It's basically just an infusion, usually an alcohol base, but you can request a vinegar base, and you just put a few drops (so it's not like you're drinking alcohol) under your tongue a few times a day.
It shouldn't be very expensive, and should work a lot better than the tablets and hopefully not cause you any problems like the tea :)

I asked my midwife about Raspberry Leaf and she said if you're getting Braxton Hicks you don't really need to take R/L anyway as your uterus is already working.
Do any of you have any thoughts on this?

RL is supposed to make contractions more efficient by toning the muscle.
The way I see it is that it's like going for a run when you're unfit as opposed to running while your muscles are nice and toned.

You can start taking them from about 30wks..or third trimester.. don't quote me on that..as my Doula who is a midwife said it doesn't hurt to take them early on aswell
I have braxton hicks im nearly 31wks..had them with DS too..they are tightenings when your whole stomach goes rock hard for a few mins..mine goes hard at the top..
Yeah I was curious on the dosages too.
Im taking blackmores..
but 3 tablets 3 times a day I think. IM 31 weeks.
Maybe when I hit 35 weeks ill go up to 4 times a day?
blackmores is the only brand I could find of raspberry leaf..
is this the one recommended? can anyone recommend a brand they think is better?
