Just curious, how long after your DP proposed did you marry?
I dont know if there have been threads about this before but how much in total did the wedding cost? And did you go over the top or was it just a plain simple wedding?

Thanks everyone :)

DH proposed.....we got married 4 months later on a beach in venuatu. Whole holiday including flights, accomodation, food, and wedding itself cost $8000.

We only had a few friends come to the wedding so it wasn't a big shebang......but I liked it:D

We got married nine months after the proposal.

Very simple. Married on the beach across from where we lived. We then decked out a marqee on our front lawn in a winery theme and had our fav pub band. Food was gourmet finger food with beautiful wines. We had an awesome day.
Probably cost up around 12,000, which is way more then we intended, but was worth it. Everyone had the best time.:smiliedance:

uhhh, DF proposed on valintenes this year, and we get married next saturday. So bit over a month.

Our wedding costs - under 200 for the registry wedding, and full legal certificates to change name. We are having a dinner with family and friends - they are all paying their own way. We are going to have a bigger wedding the day before our 1st wedding aniversery :fingerscrossed: so that one will cost alot more.

DH told me he was going to marry me after 3 weeks. After 3 years together we had our house burgaled and decided that with the insurance money we would buy and engagement ring (about the only time we would have the $'s). So we did! The ring sat in a cupboard for about 2 months while my DH said he was planning things. I got tired of waiting and decided that since we already knew we were going to get married and had the ring I would ask him so at least something was a suprise! Needless to say he was very suprised but has since confessed that he felt I stole his thunder

Wedding was 23 Months later in the Swan Valley in Perth. We had approx 90 guests and the whole thing including a 3 week honeymoon to the Whitsundays :D My best guess it cost just under $20k

We got engaged in June 2003 and married the following April. Have no idea of the total wedding cost, it was split between us, my parents and the inlaws. It was a fairly simple wedding, we preferred to spend our hard-earned cash on our honeymoon.

6 months between proposal and wedding for us.

Total cost, gosh, I don't think we kept track, umm..... probably over 10 000. We spent lots on food, wine and a jazz band for the reception - these were the important bits for us, that our guests have a fantastic time and enjoy the food, drink and music. We saved on things like cakes (made by MIL, iced by a friend for the cost of a bottle of wine), photography (friend is a photographer, so we got a discount), flowers (just three bouquets and three buttonholes, didn't need centrepieces at the reception or anything at the church because both venues were already beautiful), bridesmaids dresses (mum made them).

I've been to fantastic weddings that were really cheap, and boring weddings that cost a fortune, so price has very little to do with whether or not people enjoy themselves.

I met my DH in Sept 1997, we got engaged in Feb 98 and married Sept 98 - all in under a year (and I wasn't even pregnant!!). A lot of people were saying it was all a bit quick but it felt right for us and we are still together (10yrs next yr) - have 2 beautiful boys, and couldn't be happier!

We had a nice small wedding - about 60 guests and back then it all cost about $10,000 - that was everything included - even a honeymoon to Club Med Lindeman Island for a week.

We got married two years after he proposed. The only reason why so long was because i got pg with Jayden. We had a simple wedding in my grandparents backyard with about 20 people. It was still elegant and beautiful just without all the extra trimmings.

We were engaged on the 7th Nov 01 and married on 16th Mar 03. (3 years tomorrow, 3 years tomorrow!)

Our wedding was about $12,000 for a full sit down 3 course meal and all drinks for 80 guests.

We didn't miss out on anyhting so I think we did really weel for that amount of cash.

We got engaged in April 98 and married September 2000. It cost us $18 grand including our honeymoon. We got married at St Lucia Golflinks; reception was there as well. Photos at Mt Cootha. Honeymoon was 7 days in the Maldives and 2 in Singapore. The whole thing was great. Everyone had a good time with lots of great food and drink and music!:smiliedance:

MY DH proposed on 11th April 1998 and we were married on the 11th December 1999 (Our 3 year aniversary)
We had a Catholic ceremony and all up including our outfits and everything we paid around $7000.
Towards the end with all the family pressure of 'You have to invite Uncle So'n'So' we nearly eloped with about 2 weeks to go. But we stuck it out and everyone seemed to have a good time.
We enjoyed ourselves, but if we had our time over we would have a very simple ceremony with very close family and our closest friends then go away for a couple of weeks and come back and have a BBQ with all of our friends.

We got married 13 months after danny (dh) proposed. Im not sure exactly how much the wedding cost cause my parents paid for everything including my dress all we paid for was our fotos.

I was married first in our family and mum wanted to really spoil me. I think it cost close to $17,000 we wanted to get married earlier but the conditon was if we waited they would pay. Im glad we waited cause it was a huge wedding and it was SO fun to plan with my mum. i was 19 so i know why they wanted me to wait....

My fiance and I spoke about marrying within a week of him asking me out. A month later he officially proposed, 6 months later we told my parents and 7 years later we will finally be getting married. :D

There's no particular reason why it's taken so long to marry, it doesn't even feel like we've been together for 7 years! We're trying to keep everything small and cheap and are opting for a cocktail party with a small ceremony somewhere in the middle of it. I'll get back to you on the total cost in August.

We recently went to a wedding for a couple who had been together for 6 months, proposal was just over a month into the relationship, and they had to have had the cheapest wedding ever, it was brilliant! They were very sneaky and invited everyone to a joint birthday party and then half way through the evening they got changed and the celebrant came out and married them. Everyone was so suprised, it was absolutely brillant.

We were married 9 months after getting engaged.

We had around 100 people, beautiful church, sit down 5 course meal at a gorgeous reception place, lots of fantastic music (yes, I even got up and played saxophone in my wedding dress!!) and a 2 week honeymoon in Port Douglas.......... perfect for us.

It cost quite a bit, not sure how much exactly.

Well Dp proposed on valentines day 2003, dd was born in april 2003, and then our first date was the end of october last year, but then i found out that my cousin was getting married the weekend after so we changed it to feb this year, but then because finacial reasons we put it off AGAIN, so now we are getting married on 26th August THIS year!! And i am not putting it off again!! :D

All up the wedding will cost just over $5000. Nothing too over the top but not too plain :D . I sent an estimate break of costs for the wedding to my father, and he said that they did not have that sort of money – which is a load of Bulls**t, cus I know they do, especially when they can go and upgrade their boat and do heaps of things on the house and get a camper trailer built, but they cant even help me out for their eldest daughters wedding! He basically said to me, via email, to rethink our wedding date or if we cant do that then they well try and help under sufferance!!!! sorry just venting.

So anyway, we decided to go to my df's dad and told him of the circumstance with my mother and father, and he has offered to pay for the food and half the bar tab, his mother is paying for the suit hire and the other half of the suit hire. And we will pay for the rest. We are getting a lot of things free, or at least at a discount, so that will help us out a lot!

Getting a bit excited now, cant wait.

My DH didn't really propose to me. We were planning on getting married and wanted to be married before our DD was born. So I got sick of waiting for him to propose that I went out to the shops and looked for my own engagement ring. Found the perfect one, rang him and told him about it and he said buy it then. I then planned our wedding within in 6 weeks. Married on the 20th November 2004, we had been going out for 7 months.

We got engaged on my 24th birthday & got married 12 days before my 25th birthday.

We wanted a small-ish wedding, but it didn't really end up being one! It was still very simple though & didn't cost us much at all (I've no idea of what the total figure was. We just paid for bits & pieces as they came up & never budgeted or kept track.)

We were together for about 2 years before DH proposed and then another 2 years before we got engaged.

I can't remember how much our wedding cost (prob under $8000?) but we did cut a few costs and it turned out brilliantly.

Instead of spending a fortune on our wedding day we wanted to spend our money on a deposit for a house.

After being with my DH for 7.5yrs, he proposed and we were married 7 days later, in Las Vegas. I've posted more details in a previous thread, but it cost a few thousand dollars (flight/accomm/wedding package etc) but we had a blast, a time we'll never forget!! In two weeks it will be our 5th wedding anniversary!!:smiliedance:
