I noticed blood in my discharge on saturday, I called the hospital they said that it could be due to sex but if it happened again I should call back straight away.
I hadn't had anymore until last night but it was alot more and we hadn't had sex since saturday, so I called the hospital and she asked me if i'd had thrush, I said yes but that's been cleared up for two weeks she said it didnt matter and that I should see my GP tomorrow if it was bothering me! So i've organised to see my GP this afternoon but why did the first midwife think it was more of a problem and the second one just brushed it off?? I'd also told her that I'd had low ab pains and that I 'd thought I was leaking urine or had real watery discharge yesterday but she still came to that conclusion! Has anyone experienced this?

It is a concern and really they should have said come in and lets check you out.

I do not want to alarm you but the watery discharge could be a little fluid from the membranes. (thats what happened to me) If your skin is really sore like a burning sensation (this is hard to describe) or an acidic feeling then you can be sure that is anmiotic fluid. This is probably too much info but for me it felt like sandpaper between my legs:eek:

That is only if it is very watery like urine. Some discharge can be acidic too.

If you are only losing a little fluid it is not the end of the world, as the fluid does replenish itself but you really need to be checked by the hospital not your gp but a midwife or ob.

The fact that you are 26 weeks I find it amazing that they didn't say come in.

After reading this back I know it sounds terrible but I don't know how else to write it sorry I really don't want to freak you out.

I hope everything will be ok for you and bubs, goodluck.

Can you tell me any more about the burning sensation and fluid please? I was at the hospital today for my blood pressure which is up but I didnt mention that I have that. I thought it just pressure on my bladder and a rash coming cos of urine leaking - too much info I know! But anything else you can tell me would be great!

Charmaine,

Oh, hugs :hugs: - how worrying. I really think that if its only a little bit of bloody discharge, it really depends on the colour for them to know if it's a concern or not - if its bright red blood, like on the heaviest day of your period, it could be a real concern (ie placenta coming away from the uterine wall or something like that), but if its kinda brownish, or pinkish, they often think that you've just "bruised" your cervix by having sex, or had some damage - ie from thrush.

Bleeding anytime during pg is really distressing, and can send you into a panic - but try not to stress too much, it is usually not a cause for concern, medically speaking. of course, you should always have any bleeding checked out by your ob/GP

Good luck, hope everything goes well for you!

This happened to me and I ended up in the labour ward with all the monitors strapped to me..in the end they discovered I had a very severe case of thrush. I hope it's nothing serious for you. I know I was terrified!

Hi Nina

sorry I haven't replied sooner, been away for a few days.

There's really not much more I can tell you. I had many more problems associated with losing fluid as I was bleeding excessively for a very long time prior.

As Devonmouse said, it could just be a severe case of thrush.

You need to go to your ob and get checked, either way it is not good for you if you are untreated if it is thrush and if it is fluid lose than they need to know about it.

If your OB will not check, find another OB who cares. Hope you get some answers soon, let me know how you get on.:D

GOOD LUCK AND MANY MANY :hugs: :hugs:
