My son Blair just had his first paediatric appointment since being discharged from hospital. hhe was checked out to be doing really well. he has put on good amounts of kg and has good head control for his age 4 months (3 month prem) but they are sending him off for a head scan to check his head as he did have a level 4 bleed to the brain. i'm starting to get a little scared to think that it may have come back. i know it is just a standard process to get him checked every couple of months but has any one else been in this position????

i just need some help from others in this position.

Its good to hear that Blair is putting on good amounts of weight and has good head control for his corrected age - all positive signs. My ex 28 weeker had a grade 2 IVH. I would be more than happy to talk with you off forum so if you want you can PM me and I will give you my email.

IVH does not usually come back. The ultrasound is usually to check the size and structure of the ventricles and to check if there is any excess fluid. I hope that all goes well. I won't tell you not to worry - because that's what mothers are meant to do and it's impossible not to.

Take care
Therese

Hi Sheridan
My son was a 25 weeker and had a grade 1 bleed which resolved itself. Im sorry I dont have any other experience with bleeds but I am asking some questions to other preemie moms on your behalf. I'll let you know what I find out. When is the scan to be done? Please let us know what happens and I am wishing your family my very best! :hugs:

How is Blair doing otherwise? How long has he been home? IF you have any questions, pm me!

I just pm'ed ya!!

Take Care
Mary

blair has been home since the 20 of january. He is doing really well but the only thing that really got me crying after he was born was the news of the head bleed and so now that they want to check up on his head i'm starting to get scared again. as i have heard now that bleeds don't come back that makes me feel much better. but i'm not really sure of what damage has already been done. any help or support would be great thank you everyone.

Cheers Sheridan
