NUK Dummies.

This is just a warning for those ladies that use NUK brand dummies. As I was surfing the net I came across an article about how a baby was in its cot and when the mother went in to check on him his NUK dummy was all the way in his mouth!!!:crying:
He was coacking on it. As the size of the outta part of the nuk dummies can be smaller than other types she is under the conlusion that this is how he got it in there. When little ones start munching on things, like the edges of dummies etc......
So please if you use a NUK brand dummy please be aware that this can happen.

When I find the link again I will pop it up for all to read.

There is actually a couple of instances on Bub Hub where that has happened.

Thanks for the heads up for everyone.

We initially were using them but gave them the flick for TT.

Hi all

Choice magazine recently posted an article on their website re the NUK dummies and suggested that there had been several recent complaints about babies getting the whole dummy in their mouth. Of course the maufacturers have denied that their is a problem, but I definitely won't be buying one of those!!

(that is when the bump finally pops out! (due yesterday)):)

I don't know if anyone will find this useful - but my daughter WAS a NUK dummy bub until all this came up.

I had a TERRIBLE time trying to find a dummy that would work for her...considering the shape of the NUK dummy and the dummy-shield's "close fit".

I tried Happy Baby Cherry Teats (because they're cheap). She chews on them, not sucks.

Pidgeon Dummies - she can't manage to get a good grip on them and they just slip out of her mouth.

Tommee Tippee Cherry Dummies - HATES them. She just likes to play with them in her fingers.

Tommee Tippee regular dummies - (with silicone teat) she can't get a grip on those either.

Heinz Dummies - They SORT OF work for her, because the shape of the teat is similar to the NUK dummy. But the sheild is very FLAT, so as she rolls around, it knocks out of her mouth and she gets angry.

NAM dummies - WORK THE BEST FOR DD. I don't know if anyone will have similar success with them, they're kinda expensive ($15 for 2), but the contoured shape of the sheild, combined with the ribbed texture of the teat seem to be the key to their success with my daughter at least.

Hope this helps when trying to convert from NUK to another brand...

Wow I never knew anything about this, it is very scary! We have been using them forever. Tonight will be the last night with a nuk. Only because its too late to get another one.

When I forgot a dummy in target one day I bought one from there it was a disney one, just the same as a nuk but wouldnt fit in their mouth I wouldnt think, but the teat is the same. So if converting give it a go thats what Im going to use, unless I can get rid of it for good...

When I heard about this we got rid of our 10month old's Nuk dummy for good. It was the only type he would take and he had major sleep/dependancy problems with it anyway. So we are now dummy free :yelclap:

jay, lee&nikita'sdad - if ur bub will only take nuk ones, there are others on the market that are shaped similarly - like someone else said (can't remember who - sorry!!) The disney/pooh bear ones from target and coles supermarkets are shaped the same (teat), but the shield is a bit bigger, I think. Also the Avent dummies, although they don't have the slope on the bottom side of the teat, are shaped kinda the same.

Hope it helps!:fingerscrossed:
