Hi everyone,
I live in NSW but am planning a destination wedding for Palm Cove.
Because I am doing everything by email I am finding it really hard to make any decisions so I thought I would come on here and see if any fellow bubhubbers would be able to help :D
We are looking at getting married next year - 11th April. Is this a good time of year weather wise? I heard it isnt overly hot then, but may rain in the evening?????
Also, we were thinking of staying and having our reception at either the Rockford Novotel or Oasis Palm Cove. Does anyone know anything about these resorts?
TIA

I don't know about the reception venues but DH and I got married on the beach at Palm Cove in the beginning of March and it was fine weather then.

Hey there

I only just saw this post so I will apologise for us slack Cairnsites we are so laid back here we forget to keep in touch:laughing:

Personally with the wet season being how it is March April are the worse times of the year to get married. Infact the best time is June, July. No humidity, you can swim at the beaches as the jelly fish have gone and very unlikely to rain. The temps are still in the high 20's and the nights are are usually above 15.

The only problem is that the rest of the world knows its the best time to have weddings here so you have to book in fast.

The most awesome place to stay is the Angsanga and they have their own wedding chappel, which you can book through South Pacific Bridal. Check them out on the internet. I think their website is just their name with the usual before and after.

Novotel is old there is nothing that remotely stands out especially for a newly wed couple its a bit disappointing. (I used to work as a housekeeper there and all of the rooms are the same) Its not like going to say the Casino where they actually have honeymoon suites iykwim.

The Oasis at Palm Cove if its the one I think it is (its changed names atleast 5 times in the last 12 yrs) Its really just ok aswell.

Actually something else about the Ansanga is that it is on the beach all the other hotels are across the road. The Ansanga is the only one actually on the beach.

Does any of this help - hope so.

A good marraige celebrant is Barbi who can be booked through South Pacific Bridal or Wayne Reeves, he is really good if you want someone who makes it a whole lot of fun and not just a ceremony.

Wayne can be found on the internet too I'm sure.

Good luck with it all.

Hi.

I got married in Palm Cove, and found it the most beauitful place on earth, I would highly recommend it to anyone.

We got married in the Crystal Cascades rainforest though the company Palm Cove weddings, they were wonderful, i arranged flowers, transport & photography with them, i arranged the cake myself which worked out heaps cheaper, it was a local bakery that delivered to our accommodation for us.

We ( us and all of our 25 guests the flew from Melbourne) stayed at The Villas Palm Cove, they looked after all of us with price and they decorated the Gazebo for us to have our reception, as you can imagine it was a typical QLD wedding laid back and plenty of feed and drinks all round.

We did get married in November which is the worst time to get married (apparently) as the march flys (mind you they bite, and bite hard, they are about the size of a 5 cent piece.

I would get married in June , however you need to book EVERYTHING now.

Good luck with it all :) If you have any other questions where to eat, etc there let me know, I holiday there regulary now.

We got married at the Kewarra Beach resort on 12th April and the weather was absolutely perfect. It's also beachfront, and quite secluded. Kewarra is also a much quieter beach, but not much in the way of holiday apts. All our family stayed in units at Trinity. I personally find Palm Cove quite pretentious, but my parents stayed at Mantra Palm Cove last time they came up. Brand new, and got a great deal. That was in April too.

the jellies were bad this year so the nets were in till may. You can still swim any time of year, just in the nets... it's july now, and the weather's a bit hit and miss. Cloudy, cool and wet past couple of days although last week was perfect.
