Hi I am 12 weeks today, and have had some quite severe to the point I cant move stabbing pain in my right uterus side area. Its like I get stabbed in the ovary then the knife gets dragged down towards my vagina area. I am already worried about bub, but now I am starting to stress because I had a scan that noted I have a haemorrhagic follicle/corpus luteal cyst on my right ovary and Im worried that it could burst or something:confused:

Does anyone know if this can happen? I made an appt with a doctor(mine is booked out) to ask if they can find the heart beat because Im already paranoid something is wrong, but now Im worried worse:(
Should I go to the hospital and wait to see if they can give me a scan?

11.20

I dont know much about the cysts myself, only that some women have had them in pregnancy and been fine.

Hi 34me,
Not sure about your pain but the corpus luteal cyst is completely normal. Every pregnancy has one, it is what forms on the ovary after the egg has been released. It has something to do with maintaining the necessary hormones until the placenta can do it on it's own. In one pregnancy of mine it was the only evidence on ultrasound that proved I was actually pregnant. As for the follicles, I'm not sure but do let us know how you go.
Good luck.

Got a scan on thursday. When I asked for him to use the doppler he didnt, he just said why dont you have a proper scan? Well I didnt ask for one cos I cant pay $200 for one privately, but they are actually going to bulk bill(yay) He said we really need to make sure bub is ok. I have had previous issues with cysts but I dont know the types or anything and have not been pregnant and had one at the same time. I had quite a bit more pain today, but I still have pregnant symptoms and no blleding so :fingerscrossed:

As stupid as it sounds I am so so worried they wont find a heartbeat or bub will have passed between the 5 week scan and now(there was a heartbeat then but I am a stresser):(

The CL cyst is completely normal, and common in most pregnancies, I thought you had cleared that up in early December after your scan? The pains you talk about are normal too, quite often just due to ligaments stretching, etc.

More info:

Corpus Luteal Cysts
A corpus luteal cyst (CLC) is a very normal part of pregnancy and most women are unaware of having them. When the egg is released from the ovary at ovulation and the baby is conceived, the site of ovulation in the ovary becomes a corpus luteum cyst. For a few women this cyst can grow to the size of a golf ball (5 to 6 cms across) and cause symptoms such as quite distressing pain and sometimes a small amount of bleeding.

It's most likely yours will have gone on its own by now... try to stop worrying! :)
