Hi Ladies,

A close friend of mine has been hospitalised with placenta praevia. She is only 30 weeks and has been bleeding for 3 days. :crying:

The hospital is saying she will probably need an emergency caesar and wont be allowed out of hospital until bubs is born.

This is her 1st baby and she has recently been diagnosed with antenatal depression. She also went into early labour 2 weeks ago which Dr's managed to stop.

I am really worried about her and the baby. Has anybody else been through this? Is there any positive stories I can tell her to reassure her? and does anybody have any ideas about how or what I can do to cheer her up??

Please all keep your :fingerscrossed: she is ok.

Thanks! :hugs:

a lady i know was hospitalised with it as well but she was further along so they just gave her a c-section. her and bubs are fine.
she must be going through so much right now, the thing she needs most is your friendship before and after bubs is born. depression can be so hard to get over, but with a friendly shoulder to lean on im sure she'll be fine.
hope everything works out well for both of them

A friend of mine had a little boy at only 29 weeks.

He is now a fantastic little 3 year old with no complications at all.

Best of luck to your friend and the bub - it sounds like they will need as many hugs as you can give them.:hugs:

One of my close friends had placenta praevia with her 4th child and had a c/s at 35 weeks.

There were no complications and mum and baby were perfectly healthy (bub in question is now a healthy 4y.o).

The best thing you can do for your friend right now is to be there for support. Maybe take her out for dinner and a movie - just the girls, so as to take her mind off it.

Hi! My sister-in-law had placenta previa (sp?) with both her children. She bled the whole way through both pregnancies.
Her first son was born at 28 weeks by c-section, and he is now a healthy intelligent 11 year old boy!
Her daughter was born at 32 weeks by c-section and is now a healthy happy and vibrant 8 year old!
Im sure she is in good hands at the hospital. Good luck to her! :fingerscrossed:

There's an online support group for AND if you'd like the details. If she's depressed she can't be "cheered up"but she can be supported with frequent visits, lots of familiar things from home, and an open heart to hear everything she has to say, especially the painful and uncomfortable stuff.
