Hi all,
i am very new to this forum with my first post here, so please go easy on me. i am trying to work out all the abbreviations, but i'm sure i will get there.

My husband and i have just found out that the only way we are going to begin our family is through Adoption or Donor Sperm. We have been referred to numerous specialists over the past six months and what we thought may have been a possibility is now confirmed. For us, we feel that we would like to use donor sperm (although, not someone we know). We have the next specialist appointment to find out all details next week, but i guess i am jumping ahead to find out all the honest opinions and feelings of those that have experienced the same and have used a Donor sprem. i have done lots of internet research by like to here from those with rela experiences, the good and the bad.

Thankyou
Kia

Thanks Justcooked for your welcome and support.

I just relised that i have posted in the wrong area, maybe i should have posted in the Sperm Donor area (if their is a thread), not egg donation.

so i guess i might be just saying Hi on this thread

Hi Kia

No, there isn't a sperm donation area, and the egg donation area itself is only new (although booming). Not sure if Admin want to go down the sperm donation route as well.....but hope that by posting you can get some support from others who may have gone through the same thing, even via PM if they are a little shy. There is a yahoo support group for Australian sperm donors so do a search on that....I think it can get quite controversial in there so wear your hardhat, or don't go in at all if you are feeling a little raw at the moment. I'm not sure if they allow advertising, but think it is more of a discussion area. There is also another yahoo group called 'Single Mothers by Choice' who have all used DI to create their families - not sure if they welcome couples but no harm in asking - will PM you their addy.

Kia, make sure your name is on the clinic waiting list and depending on which state you live in, you can advertise freely in the press (in Victoria, you will have to have approval)....some people look for sperm donors in the lesbian media eg. pink pages etc. There is also something called the Australian Sperm Donor Registry where you pay a fee and get the details of a particular donor.....I personally don't think anyone should make any money fron facilitating a match, but sperm donors are in such short supply, can see how many people would use that service. You might also try some of the US surrogacy sites but just be aware that there are some less than pleasant characters out there who assume because you are using a US site that you want to pay money for their 'gift' - this is obviously immoral but above all, illegal.

Anyway, will be back tomorrow with those links for you. Hope there are others out there who can give you some support for your journey.

Love

Cindy

Sorry bubhub Admin, will PM any links etc, and as always, please edit anything you think unnecessary. (I should go and read the rules!)
