Hey :)

Just wanting some feedback. Most days my little man is hyperactive, with lots of movement, sometimes sessions of a good 10min of constant movement.

Today he hasnt moved much at all - BUT has moved... He would have done the magical '10' movements throughout the day, but he is usually so much more active than that.

Also while sitting here typing im getting pins and needles under my ribs - any ideas?

Hi there :)
Im not as far along as you (Im 20 weeks), but as I am aware I think as long as the lack of movement isn't 'all of a sudden' then its ok. Maybe he is running out of room....!? My mum said that when she had my brother he was really long and used to get pins and needles in her ribs because of his length!
But if your worried you should probably have a check up.
I like the name you have chosen... I have just found out Im too having a boy!

First of all don't panic!! Easier said than done, I know. If ever you are the slightest bit concerned about bubs movement just call your hospital and get them to put you through to the fetal monitoring unit. The women there will be able to help you and tell you if you need to come in so they can monitor bub just to be sure everything is ok. I had about half a day without movement and called up as I had to go to work and wanted some reassurance before I did and they told m eto dring a glass of REALLY cold water, lay down and wait. If I didn't feel x amount of movement in 10 mins I had to call back. Cheeky monkey woke right up!!!

All will be fine I am sure, but I know how much it helps to be reassured regardless of how silly you feel! I would always call my mum if I was worried about something and she always told me to ring the hospital!!

I had this as well, and was told the baby has major growth spurts so it is not as active. I hated it!! I'd rather the baby move all the time then not lol

And I don't think you have to start counting the movements until you are around 35 weeks, but I could be wrong.

But yes at any point you're worried ring your care provider :D

I had this at 25wks and called the hospital, they told me that they have quiet days and I'd find that she'd be jumping around like a lunatic again in a couple of days...she was right!

My OB told me the same thing. I told him I was worried because I couldn't pinpoint a pattern to monitor movements (after some friends of ours had sadly lost their baby at 33 weeks) and he said guess what, it's a human being, there IS no pattern to it. He can be a bit blunt sometimes

He was right though, my bub is usually incredibly active and then some days it will be really quite by comparison. I usually eat or drink something then sit down and try and relax if I'm concerned, and it's always given me enough kicks to reassure me.

If you are EVER concerned though, go straight to the hospital and get it checked out - it is much better to find out nothings wrong and feel a bit silly than to leave it and have something happen.

Best of luck with it xxx :hugs:

I knew of one lady who who had a still birth, and she said the baby had slumped down low and her belly dragged down low - and obviously there were no more movements.....

so, the pins and needles around your ribs are probably a good sign that the baby is able to keep itself rigid and upright, even if it is not moving much due to a growth spurt......

But obviously I'm not doctor, so if your instincts are strong, go find out for sure from a professional with fetal heart monitor.....

ps....I always find if I have chocolate I get an immediate reaction from the baby, probably of great ecstacy and joy ;) .... maybe try having a coffee (if you can stomach it, I know I probably couldnt)....

plain m&m's are my weakness, and they always create a disco in my womb.....
