Are you under 25?
Are you pregnant or have you had a baby?
Would you like to talk about your experiences?

Researchers from the University of Newcastle would like to find out about young women’s experiences of pregnancy and motherhood, with a focus on the barriers young women have faced when trying to access services. For example, how easy is it for young women to find prenatal health care? What is it like being a young woman in a maternity ward or birthing centre? What has your experience been like with healthcare services and government services (eg Centrelink, DOCS)? Have you been able to go to school, TAFE or university? What has it been like trying to get to and use education services? What are the types of things that have made it difficult to access these and other services?

We would like to give a big thank you to all those women who have accepted the offer to participate in this research project. The interviews have been progressing well, but there is still time if anyone else would like to participate. So if you are either pregnant or a mother under 25 years and would like to talk about your experiences in accessing services, we would still love to hear from you. For more information, please call 1800 068 081 or email the investigator on the project Deborah.Loxton@newcastle.edu.au.
