iam having tyler's party at a park,,, does not cost anything so just got to pay for food,,, iam also taking her to the zoo but i know that is not cheap:rolleyes: ,,, you could also have a bbq that would be cheap:confused: ....
for your hubby maybe also just a bbq with his mates or a nice home made dinner

We had a sausage sizzle for bubs 1st birthday. Easy and cheap - bbq's can get expensive! The only extra food i did was fairy bread, chocolate crackles and jelly (oh, and birthday cake!). The kids were all under 1so didn't really eat any party food and all the adults loved the kiddie food - big hit!! We were low on cash at teh time and I wanted to be able to enjoy the day rather than be exhausted from hours of preparation and not have to be stuck in hte kitchen half the time!! It was perfect for us.

My DS turns 1 soon. I've been thinking of just having finger food at the local playground. I don't see the point of doing anything too extravagant as bubs isn't going to remember anything about it! Save my money for his 18th!!

Everyone has made some good suggestions for Ethan's birthday. I hope all goes well.
For your man's 30th - if you are a bit cash strapped - how about pick a local restaurant that you go to. Tell everyone it's your man's 30th and you plan to have a dinner there and ask them if they would like to come. Tell them that instead of bringing a present you'd rather they paid for their own meal. That way all his mates are there for his birthday and it's a fun night. Talk to the restaurant and find out when you have to let them know numbers by. The only hard bit is keeping track of who's coming. We did this for my Husband's 30th and had a ball. After dinner (when it was late) we invited those still left back to our place for a couple more drinks - so that you are not totally limited to the restaurant hours.
This is, of course, depending on what kind of mates you have. If all they want to do is drink, it could be an expensive night for them - but hey, at least you're not paying for them.

Hi Jo
You could have a party type thing for your little boy in the arvo with just a few finger foods and a cake for him, then a barbie that night for your hubby.
Hope it turns out well.
