Hello!!

Not sure if this should be in the reflux forum or here. DD has been diagnosed with reflux and has been on Losec for 10 days (still no change but hanging out for the 2 week mark). On the advice from the HCN I have changed her to Karicare AR, she was on Karicare Gold (switch from S26) but hated it as I think it was too frothy and she just refused to take it. The AR formula is great, has reduced her pukes considerably. I am just wondering though if I should be using the AR-HA? Is it better? She's only been on the AR for this week and I really don't want to keep changing her formulas as she has just got over a bit of constipation in getting use to the AR. Would there be a big difference if I changed to the HA? Could it upset her even more by changing yet again??

As always thank you for all your help, you ladies really are my lifeline at the moment:hugs:.

My dd2 is also a refluxer and I have her on the Karicare HA AR. The Hypoallergenic formula has the milk proteing broken down a bit more than the regular formula, so its easier for bubs with allergies or sensitive tummies to digest. (Please correct me if I'm wrong :))

It could be worth a go. I found my dd2 was vomiting alot more and was finding it hard to poo with a normal AR formula. With HA AR shes fine.

I'm sure some of the more experienced Reflux mummies can give you some advice. Might be worth posting this in the reflux section as well.

:hugs: Reflux is not an easy thing to deal with

As chicco25 said HA formula is broken down (pre digested) It was designed for babies who 'may' be pre disposed to allergies through family history through a parent or direct sibling...
these formulas can prevent an onset of allergies.

For some bub's who have sensitive tummies it is easier to digest... A lot of paeds are now reccomending HA for newborns for this reason and if mum cant breastfeed.
It's great for the treatment of ezcema when there are no other allergy/intolerant signs present as ezcema can be a sign of a possibly' allergy' prone bub...

HA shouldn't be used for treating an allergy/intolerance though as even though broken down it still contains Cows milk protein and lactose etc....
