Hi there,
First child due in May and trying to decide whether to get the MBU Elite or the Bugaboo. I know the pros of both prams but am looking for the downsides please so if you own either would love to hear from you.
Have heard that the Bugaboo is no good for even power walking on rough surfaces - is this true? We live where there are lots of very rough pavements and am hoping to be able to power walk and jog with pram.
With MBU Elite only downside I've heard is weight and width.
Would really really appreciate any advice:)
THANK YOU!
Sorry mumtobe08, i don't own either but I have a friend who has a bugaboo.
She uses it around the city over uneven pavement and finds it ok, but she wouldn't take it 'off road' on rough terrain as it is not built for that. As for the power walking, i know she does a lot of walking for fitness with bubs and has had no probs, although wouldn't think it suitable for jogging.
Hope this helps!

The Bugaboo isnt made for jogging. I power walk with it fine though and have used it on rough surfaces without a prob. :)
I have a bugaboo and it's crappy to power walk with! it doesn't handle well on rough terrain... I also find it veers to the left alot (even on normal pavement)
I ended up having to buy a mountain buggy as I run/walk alot!
It's a great pram in other areas but personally i dont think it was worth the money

have you thought about a steelcraft strider? they come in a 3 and 4 wheel. i have the 4 wheel and find it great!! the large tyres are a lil wide, but that is honestly the only fault i can find with it. they look very similar to a bugaboo, and i've had lots of compliments on mine. visit their website and check it out

Based on that comment I would advise you to most certainly get the MB! I have the MB Urban Elite and although I haven't put it to use yet as you can see by my sig, it is a very sturdy pram that will do well in those conditions.
As for the weight and width, well the MB is one of the lightest 3 wheelers on the market. I can't seem to find the exact specifications but I believe it is around 10kg and fits through all normal doorways etc. I don't think it's too much heavier than the Bug.
Sorry, you probably already know all this, but I can't really tell you about the downsides of one compared to the other because I only have one. Good luck with what you decide!

Thanks all for your advice. I think given what I want to use it for the MBU Elite is going to be the one for us.
Thanks again for the feedback:D
Hi there I have the MBU Elite and although it is a great pram I wouldn't get it again.
It only fits through the disabled aisle at our local supermarket because it is too wide - the nuts on the wheels really stick out. This may not be an issue for you if your aisles are wider. I also have an old house with narrow doorways and the fit is a real struggle.
I have mums in my MG who have the Bugaboo and although I love this pram, I wouldn't get it either.
Why? Because neither the Bugaboo nor the MBU Elite have a toddler option that I like. When I have # 2 (haven't started TTC but will soon) I am going to get the Maclaren twin.
I didn't think about toddler options when I was having #1 but wish I had now. If this doesn't bother you, then they are both fantastic prams.

Hi there
We have the MB Elite and LOVE it!! I would buy it again in a heartbeat! Fantastic pram - great basket at the bottom for shopping and fantastic to walk with. Its also easy to pack down to put into the car...DD is 1 and is very comfy in it!
I also have a Maclaren Stroller which is nice however you cant fit anything in it and isnt as sturdy or easy to walk with like the MB...
We were tossing up between these two prams however at the time the Bug only came in polarfleece and DD is a Jan bub so it didnt work..
We are really happy with the pram - although its a little bit wider - its no probs...
We are looking to TTC this year...I will definately be buying a skate board attachment or upgrading to the twin one...I am not a fan of the toddler seats as I have seen far too many tip over...

The MB is also not as heavy as some of the other 3 wheeler prams - easy to manage!
I love my mountain buggy and I wouldn't trade it in for any other pram! It goes over bumps, up and down hills, over sand, round corners, etc with ease. It's fantastic for walking on footpaths, gravel, sand, uneven dirt. It's so easy to steer too - one handed most of the time.
It is one of the lightest 3 wheeler prams on the market - that's the main thing that attracted me to it in the start. Yes, it is just too wide for most normal checkout aisles, but I'm now used to going through the disabled/pram aisle - it was hard to adjust to at first, but now it's no big deal. The easy steering is a huge benefit in shops when you constantly need to move with little warning and often with your hands full.
The other benefits include the great sunshade & storm covers (purchased separately). The sunshade is a complete cover and it keeps flies off the baby too - SO important at the moment in victoria. I don't know that the covers for the bugaboo are so good.
I plan on getting a toddler skateboard thingie when the next baby comes along (in a while) as I don't think I can part with my mountain buggy.
