I am due with no. 2 in June, DD1 is now 2y/o (and quite tall for her age).

I am having trouble deciding on which option to go for in a pram. We do a lot of walking (some off road) so need something that will be comfortable for both bubs and toddler.

Just wanting to hear from the mothers in a similar situation and who have a phil & ted with the doubles kit attachment.

I love the look of the pram, and how it is not wide like most 3 wheelers.

So what are the pro's & cons to help me weigh it all up? And/or any other suggestions.

I currently have a valco runabout, but have only heard bad things about the toddler seat attachment!! (unstable and hard to push)

thanks gals.

i love my p&t, all the pros you can probably see when you look at it and then on top of that it is easy to steer, easy to fold down, and chuck in the boot (im 8 months pregnant and am still doing it easliy) it also folds smaller then my 4 wheeler (same size as the basic steelcraft 4 wheeler)

cons i have found so far are.
when in toddler - toddler you loose the basket and you have to take the toddler seat off to collaps it (so i have been told, im not quite up to using it yet)

im sure others can add to the cons and pros but they are all i can think of right now

Taking the toddler seat off takes all of 5 seconds....if that! So it's very easy, and I wouldn't call it a con myself.

Also, it's when it's in baby laying flat/toddler on top, that you'll lose most acess to the basket, but I found it no problems, and would still be able to do a little shop, get it all into the basket, and walk us home again.

The only thing I'd say is to make sure you get the new model, as I have the e3, and DS3 sticks his hands out and onto the wheels, so I'm off to buy myself the tyre guards as soon as I get out to the baby shop.

Overall, I'm really happy with my P & T's, and highly recommend it over the valco - I had the rebel, and believe it or not, it did actually tip on me, in the middle of the road, with 2 children in it, whilst heavily pregnant!! Not good at all!!

THanks ladies.

OMG MT&J's mum, how horrible to have your Valco tip!! I hope everyone was ok. That is one of my major concerns.

Anyone with a P&T's can offer anything else??

There's another thread going at the moment regarding using P&T in tandem mode.

Personally I think its great (P&T should start paying me soon the number of times I have said that). It's light, compact, comes in bright colours, easy to steer with one hand (that's a biggy for me). Folds down in seconds and is sturdy with great breaks. If you buy the new sports model the toddler seat has a recline option too and you can buy a pouch for the newborn to make it easier to get them in & out while they're sleeping.

It holds up to 25kg & 20kg (or something similar) and is easy to clean & wash.

In newborn mode the bub can look up at you through the back of the pram.

CONS - if you get a green one (like I did) they mark easily so you will need to scrub it every few months to get the dirty fingermarks off the side.

it's kind of awkward to go from recline to sitting if the baby is in the pram.

you can't really use the storage basket underneath once you have the toddler seat containing a toddler down the bottom (or maybe it's just mine that gets into everything?)

When used in tandem you get a LOT of stares and comments. Not sure if that floats your boat but I don't really mind either way. Most older ladies say "oh isn't that clever, there's a baby under there.

:iagree: with pretty much all of what mumma juice has said! Only been using mine for a week now, but it is GREAT

The biggest cons for us, is not being able to use the basket much with the toddler seat on the back, but i plan on getting the side saddle bags for it, and then i;ll have one for DD's bits, and the other for DS's bits.

The brake is HARD to put down with thongs on, but with closed in shoes, not so bad.

The adjustable hand is fantastic, DH & i were both using it today & it took 2 seconds to adjust the handle when we swapped over.

Pro's: BOTH kids fell alseep, both were comfy, so we had a lovely walk along the breakwall. Haven't done that for ages, and couldn't do it in our old pram & toddler seat combo.

A friend has the runabout tri-mode - her almost 3yo has almost tipped it with her jumping about, the toddler can't even sit back comfortably as the back of the seat is so low, and it's hard to tend to the baby. She uses her stroller & lets her toddler walk most the time.

folding it down is not as easy as our old pram - but it's not hard. It also takes up MUCH less room than heaps of other 3 wheelers i've seen.

Oh, ours is the sports one - with covers on the wheels, so DS's hands go no-where near the wheels.

The set up is great but the quality of the P and T is not as good as the mountain buggy which I have as my other pram. Most of the parts have started to wear through and we have had several parts replaced. We went walking today with the two prams and it highlighted to both of us how hard the P and T is to push compared to the MB - you always need two hands to steer it which you don't with the MB. But it is stable, it is a great set up and it is a good size - folds up very flat for our small boot space.
