Being in a rural area, I really don't have much choice! It's Wodonga hospital for me - I'm lucky I'm here, any other town within 100km, and I'd have to travel.

I had DD at Tweed Heads Hospital in NSW which is quite a distance from where I live but DP wanted it that way It was a lovely hospital but so far from family and friends. I want to have this bub at Gold Coast Hospital and DP thinks otherwise but I am the one birthing this child so I really think it's my desicion what do you ladies think should I keep pushing for the hospy closer to home?

Hayleysmummy - IMHO I think you should be wherever YOU are comfortable
I'm going to RPA birth centre in Sydney again, hoping to stay on the bc side rather than the delivery side!

Babe #3 is booked into the Family Birth Centre at the Angliss Hospital in Ferntree Gully, VIC.
DS1 was born at the Angliss also, but in the normal delivery suite.
DS2 was born at South Eastern Private, VIC. I loved the 6 day stay. It was devine.
But this time, I want less intervention and I want to do it "My Way"....am looking forward to a carefree waterbith:fingerscrossed: with no drugs.

I'm still deciding lol. I suppose it would be at Bundy Base but wonder if I could sneak down to Brisbane in my last month  We'll see but I really think it will be the base up here.
My first son was born VB with Gas only for an hr. He was born in under 5.5hrs so will be interesting to see how quickly this one come.

Definitely NOT having it in Nigeria!
I knew a girl who did and the anesthesiologist (I highly doubt that's spelled correctly:detective:) had gone home for the night so she couldn't have any pain relief and was not a happy camper!
I haven't the faintest idea where this baby will be born at the moment! We are planning on moving sometime in the next couple of months, so it will depend on if we go to a country that has good medical or not. If not, I guess I'll be flying home to have it!
Like pregnancy isn't enough to think about....

Wahoo - I agree with your sentiments, unfortunatly there is not a lot of respect for the mother in this country - you either do exactly what you are told (if you are spoken to at all) or you have the baby on the dirt floor of your hut - drugs are not an option, and men are still not permitted or encouraged anywhere near the birth.
I will be having my baby as St John of God Subiaco (Perth) - which is where I had DS. I would have gone to Mercy but as of September 08my Ob doesn't deliver there any more so SJOGS it is. I found some of the midwives to be rude first time around.
While I will be having an elective C Section - I would just like to say how excited I am by the homebirthing mums in this group and I am very looking forward to hearing and sharing your jouney. I truely believe that women today should be empowered to have the birth of their choice. I congratulate all of you for being strong enough to persue the birth of your choice. :)

Hi, I will be having this baby at the Selangor Private Hospital at Nambour. My little girls were born there. First one, naturally with no drugs and a water birth, dd #2 epidural after a huge labour. I thought the second birth is supposed to be the easy one....not for me. I wonder what the next one will be like.

At this stage we will be going to Mater Mothers in Brisbane... definately wasn't going to Logan hospital, I have heard really bad things about them
Well..... I am a tad nervous about the Hospital thing...
My last two births were at Nepean Hospital in NSW, and I loved it..... But this one will be at Redcliffe
I have heard great and not so great things about them - I am just generally nervous because I will be out of my comfort zone - as in not really knowing much about this hospital, as I was so so familiar with the other one I was at...
Does that all make sense!??

Can you do a tour of the hospital maybe it might help a little.

I was tossing around between private & public and thought since I had the private health cover Id go to Kareena Private hosp Miranda NSW. The obstetric fees were/are phenominal however I just thought you don't have a baby every day and it's no more than what I'd spend on a holiday so. . . Well, that's how I justified it. .
I had my first one 18 years ago at Paddington Women's Hosp but that's since been removed. I was 19 at the time and it didn't cost me a cent . .

I'll be having my bubba at Sydney Southwest Private in Liverpool, NSW. Don't know anyone that has been there to have a bubba, but when I had my D&C there the staff were great.
Hotpink - lots of my friends have had there babies at Kareena and were very happy there. If we lived closer I would be going there to, but the thought of being in labour and stuck on the M5 just doesn't do it for me. Have you thought of Sutherland Public? I work there and the staff in Maternity are wonderful. I haven't met one of them I don't like yet.

Hello pregnant mums! I will delivery this one at Manning Base in Taree, both my sons were also born there and no complaints, except they never believe you are further dilated than they suspect...You know, you are always 3cm!
haliey, i hear you dont want to go to the logan because of the "bad" stories, i just thought i would point out that 1- there are 'bad' stories from every hospital, and 2- i delivered both my babies at logan and i can tell you they were fantastic. I know its your choice i thought i would just put that out there.
P.s. although i am planning a home birth for this baby i have booked in at the logan as my back-up :)
