Evening ladies,

Help me, i need advise! :crying: My baby boy is nearlly 6 months old and i have lost hardly any weight. I gained 10kg during preg's then another 3kg afterwards. Which i cant understand because i really watched what i ate. I have only lost 2kg in the past 2 months and feel like im getting nowhere. I have read that breastfeeding is suppose to help with weight loss. Plus by 6 months old that you should have lost what you gained during preg's.

I want to continue breastfeeding my baby boy, i enjoy it, but i'm getting so down that ican't loose weight. I have been doing weight watchers and walking 3-4days a week and feel like i'm getting nowhere.

HELP ME PLEASE?

hi missymack,
it's my understanding that bfding can help with weight loss because you do burn a number of calories just producing milk.

however in my personal experience lately, breastfeeding makes me HUNGRY so i don't lose much weight. i have noticed the weight starts to drop off for me about the same time my babies learn to walk/run, as then i'm not sitting bfding and eating but chasing them around!

i too despair sometimes about my changed body but i choose to focus on my darling baby and i hope the weight will shift.......later:D

good luck with it:)

i thought that i lost a tremendous amount of weight when i BF ds1 but turns out it was prolly just stress induced ... Im BF ds2 at the moment, and i havent lost any weight by soley BF... Guess its up to me getting of my rear, exercising and eating right!!

thanks guys

i guess i'll just keep up the walking and i'm going to give WW the flick until i can join a gym and finish bf, no point in paying all the money until i know it will be worth it.

Good Night

It took til DS was almost 2yrs old for me to get back close to my pre preg weight...I didn't breastfeed tho...and just when I was feeling really great again we decided to have another bub so now I'm pretty much back to where I was 3yrs ago when DS was born.
It goes eventually...I take very little notice of what books etc say about how much/fast you should loose weight. Everyone is different and will loose weight at a different rate. My body is a totally different shape to what it was before I had kids so even if I do get back to the weight I once was I'll probably never wear the styles of clothes I used to wear coz they don't sit the same anymore

I lost 15 kg's when i was breastfeeding my son who is now 15 months old, i joined weight watchers when Bailey was 3 months old, i swear by weight watchers. i used to put the kids in a pram and head off down the street with them for half hour walk every afternoon, now i own my own treadmill to make life easier.

I found doing my housework with the stereo going is helping. I put all my favourite songs in the cd player and dance around while i do my housework. If a song comes on that i dont like, i walk back to the stereo instead of using the remote, then i walk back before i hear the next song, if i dont like the next one i just walk back to the stereo. So sometimes im walking back and forth quite a bit.

I also walk for about 2 hours on most days

My little man is over 8 months old and I still can't wear clothes I wore when I was 4 -5 months pregnant (and some 6month stuff is tight). I know people who swear breastfeeding did it for them but it doesn't seem to be helping me. I work really hard at the gym 4 times a week and eat pretty well but losing that weight is really hard and really slow. You are not alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My scales tell me I'm still enormous but finally after five months of really hard slog I have lost a couple of centimetres in key areas (only about 1kg weight loss though). I sooooo feel like throwing in the towel some times but I do actually feel better, stronger and a bit more like me (just huge) so I plan to keep slogging away and hope one day I can like my body again. Good luck!!!!! and don't feel like a failure, its not all 'just dropping off me' for everyone I can assure you.

I lost weight when I was BF in the first 3mths. Then when I stopped BF I lost more weight and I didn't even try.

I haven't lost a heap of weight either from breast feeding as I hoped and dreamed :fingerscrossed: I would. I think it comes down to the extra hunger I feel while breastfeeding. I could always go hours without food when I was at work but if I go a couple now I get the shakes etc so the breast feeding does take it out of me. Two women I work with both shed heaps of weight when they stopped breast feeding??? perhaps the reduced the amount of calories consumed as the hunger pains dissipated.

I am still breastfeeding a year on and yes I sympathise with you that it is soooo much harder to loose the weight, I certainly am not one of those ppl that it just falls off because I am breast feeding! However I have watched what I ate very carefully and exercised at least 3 times per week and I have lost over 40kg! So it is possible hang in there!

I too have put on weight whilst breastfeeding. I had managed to keep a healthy weight all through my pregnancy and now have put between 15 - 20 Kilos since having bubba, i definately agree that bfeeding makes you more hungry:chef: , and the healthy stuff just doesn't satisfy, i always want something naughty! :banghead:

I have just started a fitness class once a week :smiliedance: and i take bubs for a 30 min walk most days so, hopefully i will start to see some results soon.
