Good morning ladies!
I am a bit worried about DD at the moment. Shame, her poor little bottom and vagina area is so red and looks like eczsma. She SCREAMED this morning when i was changing her nappy after a poop, and it doesn't seem to be getting better. I'm trying really hard to make sure I change her as soon as I feel she has a wet or dirty nappy and am layin the Sudocrem on thick!
It seems to me that her nappy rash has been a lot worse over the past few months since starting solids. And now, as soon as she has a poop...her bum/'ginny' instantly reacts to it and goes all bright red and bumpy and slightly swollen.
She is also sick and on anti-biotics. I wonder if this could be making it worse?
Has anyone else found this? Can anyone give me advice on what I could to. I try to give her some time with her nappy off, but she is crawling and cruising around the house on the walker so it is not really possible. Oh...I feel like such a bad Mom when I see how sore it looks. :(:crying:

If she has been on antibiotics it could be thrush from the medication. Try giving her no nappy time in the sun.
Aww Lejay :hugs: We have been battling this for awhile as well.... Some things that I found helped is after you wipe use a nappy line...or cloth (something soft) to pat dry and make sure there is NO moisture left behind... I find that paw paw cream works the best for us (thanks babygirl)
Jayden started getting this when his eczema started appearing... I have been told by paed and other dr's that it is not eczema. It appears the same as you described. Nappy off time seems to help heaps as well...but it is quite hard with us too as soon as you take the nappy off he does another poo...lol.
I hope you can get on top of it...sorry to hear T is going through such a rough trot.
Aw Lejay, these things happen hey.
That Lucas paw paw stuff really is great, like Steph and BG said.
My friends bub is 9 months and she has bad nappy rash whenever a tooth comes through, could be that.
If I was you I would buy some Canestan cream from the chemist and try that. If the rash has an "outline", like and edge to it and is bumpy, it means it is fungal and it is probably thrush. Annalise had it around her neck ages ago and that cleared it up straight away. Antibiotics can lower immunity and cause thrush in bubs, just like in us.
Good luck and you're doing all the right things! :hugs:
I would definately try an anti fungal cream. DS had a terrible red bum last night, i put the anti fungal cream on at bedtime, changed him over 12 hours later(when he woke) and his bum has the slightest red tinge to it.

My paed gave me a great nappy rash solution, My dd's has chronic constant diahorrea, to the point her skin breaks down and it bleeds. Put her on a towel on the floor, use egg white and coat the infected area, shine a light (like a torch) on the area. It dries it out and worked really well with my DD. Also lots of nappy off time. If there are whitish dotes u may need an antifungal cream like clonea, talk to your doc first though.
Chang your nappy rash cream every month or so, it stops working after awhile. The best nappy rash cream I have found is from the UK Metanium cream, If it's really bad here is thre link, delivery within a week

If it is thrush related you could try giving her yoghurt with acidophilus (good bacteria) in it and avoid lots of fruit or sugary foods until it clears up. This works well with my DD.
Kaid is the same this morning? For the first time ever he has nappy rash, he actually had quite alot of solids yesterday and now his poor little bum looks like its burnt.:( He screamed when I changed him, poor little guy!
I used the paw paw stuff, hopefully it will work!

I know everyone is recommending paw paw but I am going to suggest something different. I have two dd's who both suffered chronic diarhoea as babies due to lactose intolerance and the very BEST thing I found was Desitin cream. It has around 40% zinc and formed a nice thick protective barrier over the sore area and seems to literally heal overnight. My older girl who is 2 now hates it when I put it on but it still works a charm. I get it at the chemist. It has saved our lives countless times even when we have had literally bleeding rash. Good luck I know its hard to see them hurting :(
When sienna was admitted to emergency they gave me Hydraderm Sorbolene Cream and cloth to clean her....
Nappy free time as every one says is suppose to be the best.. i have not done this yet myself..

We tried the nappy off time today on the kitchen floor. She had a runny nose and I quickly went to get a tissue. In that time she pooped and 'finger painted' the tiles with it.

awww no. i think thats prolly why i havent tried nappy free time with my lil man yet. he'd do that.
Oh Lejay!
Well at least you tried....
Aww Lejay..that's no good..that's why we don't do the nappy off time either!
My 18mnth old has just gotten over his first ever dose of nappy rash. It was a very angry red, had raised spots and was very painful. It was thrush infected nappy rash. I got Resolve Plus cream (on doctors advice) and it is working a treat! It is a cortisone cream but you only use it til the symptoms die down then continue with an antifungal like Canestan ;)
oh and if the weather permits, try nappy free time OUTSIDE. The fresh air and sunshine helps too.
