I need help settling my little one down to sleep after a feed. I dont seem to have any success with burping her and this may be the cause of the settling problems.
I have tried all burping techniques with no real luck, she does seem to fart it out however.
Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations??
Any help much appreciated.

Hi,
You could try giving her a wind formual such as infacol, or infants friend before her feeds. My 2nd DS was a shocker to settle after his feeds (at night mainly, which made it sooo hard. He would feed for an hour, then be unsettled for an hour or more, then sleep for an hour, then be awake to feed again!!) So, I tried some infacol before each feed during the day to start off with, then I started giving it to him at night too. This definatley halped with him bringing up wind (or farting it!! :o ), and soon he started settling a lot better at night. I also found that if I put him on his tummy for about 20 seconds, then held him up straight (like giving him a hug), he would bring it up really easily too. It is just a trial and error thing, and sometimes it would work, other times it wouldn't. As frustrating as it may be, sometimes it just does not wanna come out
Anyway, try out my suggestions if you like!! Good Luck

I found I had to be pretty persistent with DD in the first few weeks (ie persistent with burping!) and the best technique for her was to hold my hand under her chin and pat her shoulders and if that didn't work sometimes just changing positions would.
Is she upset if she doesn't burp, or just wakeful? If she's not upset I wouldn't really worry but I do know how frustrating it is to try to get that burp out when it won't come!
BTW you'll get a better response if you post this in the breast/bottlefeeding section (whichever is relevant to you). :)

I used to lie both my girls flat on my legs with their feet higher than their head (not upside down  just on a slight incline) for a minute or two and then sit them up to burp them. It helps the air bubble move around and when you sit them upright again it sometimes comes up easier.
If your bub is a farter then maybe try doing bicycle legs to help her get the wind moving down.
I also found that if they were moving around a little (interesting concept with a newborn, I know) that they would often burp on their own. It must have been another way to move the air bubbles around. Even just lying her down for a minute or 2 and then sitting up her up slowly a couple of times then burping her might help it to come out easier.
I used gripe water with DD1 to help with her wind but it was hard to get into her and did not always work very effectively. I guess no method is foolproof

It might sound silly but a warm bath helped my little ones. They were really colic and this seemed to really calm their little bellies and make them tired. Hope it helps if you give it a go!
