Hi,

I just have a huge gripe about how much its costing for us to entertain the kids during the school holidays.

We took them all to the movies and it cost us over $100 to get in !

Australia Zoo cost us over $300 to get in !

I just dont know why they cant have discounts for LARGE families. Like a % off, or pay for so many and the rest get in free, providing u can prove the kids are your like a medicare card or something.

We are nearly considered a group booking LOL. We just needed 2 more kids for Australia Zoo!

far out! it's a bit rich they didn't offer you a discount.

Maybe just find free things to do.

Movies in the park, picnics, days out at the beach, where do you go to the movies? Bulimba, Hawthorn and Southbank are all REALLY cheap, like $6 a ticket, $7-$8 for adults. cheaper on Tuesday.

Redcliffe has a water play area.

We go Strathpine or Chermside for the movies. We often go to Redcliffe to Settlement Cove but we have been there so much I think the kids have become water logged LOL.

I also think school holidays are way to long. Its getting to hard to keep them amused.

How about sleep-outs in the backyard?

Or hiring a video camera and letting them make their own film (only the older ones can operate it though)

Building a cubby house?

visiting a farm?

going for family bike rides?

rollerskating?

cooking up a storm

getting them to go sleep over at a freinds place for a couple of nights.

camping..

I don't know, it's hard with such a large group!

i know how expensive it is aswell, but for nxt xmas can you ask santa (or the grandparents etc) to buy the kids movie tickets vouchers than atleast they are getting a fun present which also saves you money.
I also think that this weather hasnt helped any as my kids have been indoors running amok through the house, but we are going to the local library as they have activities on for free (some cost but it is very minimal) for kids ranging from 3-18yrs old , some are at the library others are at different locations with adult supervision. See if your library does anything other than that see if you can have friends over one day and they can go to their friends the next that way you get a break for a day aswell....................xmas holidays are always the slowest and we run out of money and ideas quick and the kids get bored easy even though they have just gotten all those xmas presents. Goodluck with it all, and try and keep your sanity its only 2 MORE WEEKS YAY!!!!

That's been my gripe these hols, too!

We have DH's step-sons here for ten days, and they want to go to Dreamworld, so making use of our RACQ membership saved us $30, but it still cost $275 to get in! And that doesn't take in any food or drink for the day (we're taking snacks and water, but anything else weighs the pram down too much!)

We did have a fun few hours at the museum though - $12 for parking, and we bought lunch (which we don't usually do).

Underwater world had a family ticket 2 adults 2 children $12 for each extra child (I've been taking note of all this stuff, before you know it Nat won't be free any more ~lol~)

It stinks doesnt it they should offer a discount

We make our own fun though but at the moment as we only have a 5 seater its just me and the kids.

We went to walhalla the other day which was fun and did the steam train ride as well too, we went to the river and had fun splashing around and exploring, we do the park a few times a week with a picnic lunch, we went fishing in some shallow man like lake, they had a ball. my only problem is its hard managing all 4 like this so we are limited as to some things we can do but the kids have a ball still! We love doing cooking, they are learning how to plant seeds and watching the plants sprout so we can plant them in the garden eventually.

YOu dont need to go to these places that charge the earth to have fun :)

We have five kids and though it is a large outlay, we purchase annual passes to Dreamworld every year. We spend days there on the school holidays.
