Co-sleeping

Hi there everyone

I wanted to post a link here to a website concerning unsafe co-sleeping. My sister lost her baby as a result of suffocation when sleeping with him on a couch.

I understand there are many supporters of co-sleeping out there and we are not wanting to offend anyone, but rather encourage all parents to review their co-sleeping safety.

Hi Sandy,
that is a very moving and scary story. I hope your sister and her family are okay (as much as they can be). My first baby is due in October and I will now have Ethan's story in my mind and be very careful not to fall asleep on the bed or couch with my baby (I can imagine that it would be fairly easy to do). My heart goes out to your family.

Stories like this are great wake up calls to remind us of potential dangers - thank you for sharing it. My heart goes out to your whole family.

While I was pregnant I was asked to work on a coronial enquiry for a baby that had died due to co-sleeping - I pointed out that a heavily pregnant mother was not what the parents needed to see and someone else appeared instead, but reading the file was enough to make me very careful whenever our babies have been in our bed, and to find other options that work for us as a family.
