I'm thinking wayyy ahead of myself here but I know when I have another baby I will have a homebirth. The only thing that would stop me is the cost. Are there health insurance funds that cover some of it? I could swap our insurance over if there was to ease some of the cost.

I realise its not all about the money but it would defiantely be what would get DP and I arguing (just go to the hospy for free and keep the 5 grand )

It seems something to plan in advance anyway. Thanks

Well, mine doesn't  I am with Manchester Unity. From what I have heard, you really need to fight your insurer to cover some of it. You could try calling them, and then going higher up. I guess the longer you have been with them, the more leverage you would have.

What stae are you in?? WA has free homebrth through the Community Midwifery Program

Most MW's are happy for you to pay in installments or when the baby bonus comes through.

Definatley money well spent, chill out and birth naturally at home or be poked and prodded in hospital...hmm:detective:

Call your health fund an ask, from memory HBF or HIF..something like that had a $1000 contribution to homebirth/independent midwife
