Wow K8y, you have been busy shopping. And you did well with all your baby shower presents. Hope the baby shower went well. I just love everything you have got. And the laundry hamper is gorgeous, where did you get it?

Thanks bree, I got it from howards storage world - I think they are a chain?

Great haul by the way!!! I noticed you got a grobag egg thermometer - I got one of those too, but I'm unsure about it. I think from memory, the room temperature is suppose to be correct when the egg is yellow, but the temp for yellow is some ridiculously low temperature and i would have thought the temp for orange would be best (which I think is 20 to 24?) I can't recall off the top of my head and am at work so I can't check.

Does anyone else have one of these?

Edited to say: I just googled it and yellow is 16 to 20 degrees, which is the recommended temp by 'health professionals'. Does that seem right to anyone? I thought it sounded too cold. Perhaps I should have posted this part in the normal chat thread!!!

Yeah does seem cold doesnt it? And it is cold to be honest. But from a SIDS prospective, its safer. Its better to have a cool room and wrap bubs up warm than have a warm room etc.

Everyone has such gorgeous stuff. I havent taken photos of my stuff... I'm too lazy to unpack it all from the wardrobe...

k8y - It seems too cold for me too! But I guess it is a universal indicator - to be used around the world. So what seems cold to us (Queenslanders) could infact be the ideal temperature. 20oC in some parts of Aus is the perfect temp. So maybe it just depends.

oh...hang on...just googled SIDS and temperature and it is downloading something....

http://www.sidsandkids.org/current_topics.html

Says there is no direct link to SIDS and room temperature.

But on the grobag site, it says average nursery temp is 16-20, warm is 20-24 and hot is 24-27.

I got given a grobag egg thermometer. Its something I was going to buy. Its a night light as well, which is good.

Average nursery temp should be 16-20 degrees. This may seem a little cold, but its perfect. Bubs is all snuggly in clothes and bedding. Beds are warm remember. If the temp is too high then its actually stuffy in the room. Even though we like it that way. It can make breathing for bubs difficult. They cant cope with it being artificially hot.

Does that make sense? Hope I have helped.

Try and keep it in the yellow. Dont let it get too hot with heating on in winter. Especially in a inclosed room.

Love Bree

It's an egg shaped night light and thermometer in one. It turns certain colours depending on the temp in the room and it displays the temp so that you know whether to rug up baby a little more or use heater or air con, etc...

HI, I am not due in June but just reading about the egg :D

We have one I do like it, it's great knowing the temp, and using the gro-bags. When it's yellow I have to say it's freezing it just seems far to cold. So I am happy when it's orange and at 24-25c it actually doesn't feel that hot TBH!

If it's cooler my DD wakes up and feels cold, she's no longer in a bag though.

so there you go there's my thoughts HTH!
