Hi Lovely Ladies

I'm 16wks preggies with my first bub. Unfortunately I'm the first in my circle of friends to have a baby so I have no other mums to chat to or give/get support from :(

Would love to hear from others in the same area (Brisbane Southside) who are pregnant with bubs due to make new friends.

I don't want to be an anxious mum but if I don't have other mums to socialise with before and after bub's born I will surely drive my DH mad

Hi bellasmom and Nic71

Nice to meet both of you! I've been chatting with the mums to be in the due in June 2008 thread but most don't live in the Brisbane area.

Love to have others like yourselves to chat to and possibly make friends with those that are interested for informal get togethers and later after bubby arrives, pram walks etc. I've checked the council website for pram walk get togethers and there are only 4 areas and most are northside :( Still a ways off yet for me to be thinking about pram walks, but hey, I'm an organisation freak and plus thought it would be nice to make friends with other mums before bub came too.

I'm happy to email and use forums with potential 'mums and mums to be' friends until we have enough who would like to do a meet and greet type thing at a cafe or park.

I work full time and live/work in the Mt Gravatt area.
Congrats on bub #3 Nic71 :babydust2:

Hey, I'm 9 weeks pregnant and live on the Southside. Like you I'm the first of my friends to have a baby, so I don't really have much support. Id love to get to meet other pregnant mums, especially younger mums as my boyfriend and I are classifyed as "young parents".

Hi Everyone

It's nice to know there are a few bubhub mums out there on the southside.

I have been on the internet for an hour trying to find an anenatal aqua aerobics class! Has anyone been to these or had any luck finding any? I love the water and also thought this would be a great way of meeting other mums and see if anyone else here might also want to go!

If I find anything I'll let you all know (at the moment its Chermside and Yeronga that Ive found and thats too far away!).

What are everyones thoughts on childcare? does anyone know any good places in the area or booked in or anything?

I don't know of any antenatal aqua aerobics but at AJ's gym at Algester in the deep water aerobics class they cater for pregnant women .... they're fantastic.

Hey! My little boy is 10 days older than yours!

Hi K8y,
I live 5 minutes south of the city and am very interested in meeting other mums. I'm also the first of my friends to have a baby so would love to chat with others in the same boat. Also would love some other kiddies for my son to play with.

Thanks for that advice Nic71 - I will keep looking though as I'm at Mackenzie and it's probably too far.

Yeronga where the other one is at is probably not too far, but their only class is 10am's on Fridays and I have to work - so that's no help!

I also looked at the yogababy website which I thought would be quite good - has yoga classes around Brisbane for pregnant mums and mums & babies and whatnot. But the only place close enough was Bulimba and that class is on at 7pm to 8.30pm on a Friday night - why do they make these class times so impractical for most mums? :hair:

Has anyone heard/been/go to a Playgroup Australia?

For those who haven't heard, it's www.playgroupaustralia.com.au (http://www.playgroupaustralia.com.au)

For those who are first time mums to babies born in 2008, there is free membership, go to http://www.playgroupaustralia.com.au/qld/index.cfm?objectid=3AFC2C90-E7F2-2F96-39D9EE1311279ECD

It sounds pretty good, I would definitely look into this further for when bub is born - an excerpt from their website:
Babies love Playgroup

Your baby is small for only a short time. Join a Playgroup today to enjoy new experiences together while making new friends.
What happens at Playgroup?

Parents and carers work together to provide their babies and young children with opportunities to learn through play. Activities may include stories and songs, making new discoveries by playing with water and sand, developing creativity through art and craft, and active fun with obstacle courses, parachutes and much more!
At Playgroup your baby will:

Have fun
Enjoy being with other babies and small children
Explore a new world with new experiences
Develop a weekly routine
Play with different toys
Relate to other adults
Learn and develop new skills

Sorry everyone for my :ecomcity: with posts all afternoon! I think I am procrastinating at work.

Hey Merla
Unfortunately I wouldn't classify myself as 'young', but you can pm me for chats/support/questions if you like as this is my first bub too and everything is just as new to me too!
Thank goodness for these forums :)

Hey K8y,

I am a northside mum technically, but since I work at Mt Gravatt, am 30 too and are due with my first bub in June I thought I would post anyway!

I am the same and dont have any friends who are pregnant. I too would love to meet more people with kids.

I havent been on here for ages, but will have to catch up with the june thread and see how everyone is going.

Feel free to PM me anytime!:)

Hi,
Congrats on your pregnancy. First pregnancies are very exciting. I'm 15 weeks pregnant with baby no2. My daughter is 11 months. We'd love to get together and catch up over a cuppa and some cake.
Aqua aerobics sounds awesome. Let me know if you find somewhere as I'd love to come too.

Chat later,
Cassie:wave:

Hi ladies

After another fruitless search for antenatal aqua aerobics, I located a class at Sinnamon Park Hydrotherapy Spa for those that may be interested if it's nearby to them - for me it's just too far and it doesn't have a website so I don't know timetables.

I'm really surprised at the lack of these classes in Brisbane.

I might ring my physio tomorrow and see if they know of any.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for child care?

The fact that I'm the first in my circle of friends in this area to have a baby, means I have no personal recommendations from anyone about child care centres.

If you can help I'm looking for somewhere preferably in the Carindale/Mount Gravatt area :)

Sorry can't make any recommendations .... just pop into a few (don't make an appt!) and have a look around ... lunchtime is a good time to pop in and then you can check the number of carers per child.

Another thing ... when you do find one you like put your name down now, as I had DS's name down from when I was about 6months pregnant and we still didn't get in.

k8y - Thanks for that. If you find some water arobic classes I'd love to get involved in that, especially considering how hot its "ment" to be in summer...

As far as daycare goes, I'm just booking bub into daycare at uni, apparently theres quite a waiting list, so there name will go down for mid 2009 and I should be able to get in.
