Hi,

Just quickly, please help....

To introduce a new formula from using Lactose Free for a few months to a new Step 2 Formula as advised by Paediatrician....well how do I so it slowly and safely?

Do I mix the two formula's together half half or less? Or do I offer one bottle of one, then next time the other? It's confusing, I don't want to hurt bubbies tummy.

Thanks in advance.

I would be doing it slowly... Is it another lactose free?....
If it's to do with and intolerance and you are seeing whether things have improved and trying a 'normal' step 2 then ring your paed and ask for his opinion...

Normally weaning them on his 1 part 'lactose' to 3 parts 'lactose free'... for a couple of bottles then half and half for a couple... By this stage if there were to be any reaction in most cases it would be evident... If no issues then give him the normal lactose bottle....
Sometimes even if there isn't an intolerance anymore, bubs may still have a few upsets... Give it a couple of days (unless really bad) and see how he goes...

Good Luck x x

Thank you Essjay, you have been a really good help to me in the past also with some reflux and intolerance questions I have had too.

I have spoken to the Paed and yes you are right, he suggests what you have said.

So far it's been two days and we're onto half and half ones for the last two bottles. She seems to be o'kay, her poos look normal and she hasn't vomited. No rashes yet either. Don't want to count my blessings yet though, will continue this slowly half and half for at least a few more days I think.

ANd thanks Charlen49 for your advice too :) I agree, if it was to upset her then she shouldn't be having it. It's just that she's had a few different formulas in the past and each change upset her....this time I am being over cautious that's all. Thanks though, I would normally do it that way :)

You answered all of my concerns Essjay, thanks. HOw's things with your bubs?

Oh and forgot to say it's a normal Step 2.....not Lactose Free. She may have grown out of it, or only suffered from it temporarily....not sure yet.

It's all so scary, I hated seeing her in pain a few months back....don't want that to happen again. I am only doing this because Paed wants me to try it for her, otherwise we stay on LF.

My little man is doing really well... He is a totally different little fella these days...
It's amazing how one day you can wake up and reflux just seems to disappear... I am one of the luck one though i might add...

He loves his food and his 'milk'... quite the guts...

I'm really enjoying mummy hood... again for the 4th time and NOT looking forward to going back to work... Get a bit teary when i think about that but i'm sure it will work out ok...

thank's for asking hun... Take Care... Chat soon x x
