Hi ladies,
Being new to Australia (ok 2 yrs now but DD has only been around for 6mnths of that!) I'm struggling with finding decent affordable kid's clothes.

Target has been a lifesaver from the price point of view and I didn't mind buying cheap stuff when Miss Ashley was only in it for 2 minutes. Newborns grow so fast! But cheap does have it's disadvantages - mainly I've found little tops stretch sideways within the first couple of washes, including the neck holes!
I can't seem to find anthing 'in the middle' though. Clothes seem to be either cheap and low qual or good qual but expensive. I guess it depends on your point of view as pumpkin patch wouldn't have seemed expensive when we were both earning megabucks but we're not anymore now we run our own business.

Does anyone have any secrets of where to find good quality, affordable clothes now we're soon to leave the 00's and start the real numbers with my 6mnth old?

I never thought I'd say it but I love the funky new range at Best and Less. Excellent quality and very affordable - for the boys, the 'Too Much Surf' and 'Stix and Stones' are great - we are on the two wages and I still prefer this brand to Pumpkin Patch.

I know they have girls ranges there too.:D

I have been up in Myer buying off the sales racks lately.

I have bought a stack of little T-shirts for $5, long pants for my 3 yo for $10 etc etc.

I bought a total of $320 clothing for $110 total and for that I got about 15 items. It was fantastic!

Worth raiding the racks.

The other hint would be to visit Trade Secret. It's the sort of place that requires regular visits but is well worth it.

I buy out of season pumpkin patch clothes. Look at their Website or go to DFO (near the airport). I give E-Bay a good ole' flogging too!

E-bay is brillant - lots of new with tag items, or only buy sale items, pumpkin patch can be really cheap if u only buy when on sale, Best n Less is fantastic and really cute

I too would say Best & Less. I love the Stix & Stones range as well, they are really funky. I didn't mind K-Marts Summer range either. I do love the range of PJ's at Target, I bought Indigo some really funky green and white ones with Bugs on them! lol. And I adored Pumpkin Patch when Indigo was a newborn, but now that he is in size 1, it doesnt appeal to me anymore.

My hubby is a Manager at Cotton On and apparently Cotton On Kids is on its way soon to QLD, so that will be cute as well. DH is hanging out for he and Indigo to wear matching outfits (I dont think so! lol :)

Ebay is quite good as well when the kiddies are older as I reckon a lot of the time people get ripped off with the price that the babyclothes go for! lol

Ive always bought my kids clothes at Target, i think theyre great. And Myer as well, even when theyre not on sale theyre still reasonably priced, unless you go for the name brand such as Jack & Milly or Fred Bare, but then again i could just be biased coz thats where i work

I find that you get what your paying for with the moe expensive brands....they wash better...don't loose colour or stretch out of shape...even the fabrics seem softer.... I like Pumpkin patch, Esprit, Peter Rabbit, Oshkosh, Baby Guess, Baby Ralph Lauren, Bunnykins, I also LOVE Bonds!!!! :smiliedance:

But then I also like target..... at the sales I got $167 worth of clothes for $47..... We also have a shop in adelaide called Kids who...very Cheap......but still good quality!!!

Like ppl have said if you wanna stick to the more expensive ranges...go to the outlets or wait for the sales, or even look on Ebay...it's amazing how much you can save.....:yelclap:

Here's what I do.... I love my kiddliwinks to look trendy.... so I buy in advance at sale time. I go to Target, Pumkin Patch & Myer mostly but I buy for next season IYKWIM. Like at the January sales I bought heaps of stuff for next summer, so I dont have to pay full price next summer. I do it for their winter clothes too at the end of financial year sales too. I save soooo much money this way & my kids look super cute & their clothes last the whole season out!! :yelclap:
