Hamish is 8.5 months and quite a delight, but he gets bored really easily, and he has quite an appetite for destruction too. We read books, listen to music, play with toys together, he plays alone while I watch, all sorts of things, but he gets bored after a while. Usually when he gets bored I pop him in the pram and we go for a walk, but we're having a shockingly hot summer. I do drop in to visit friends, but I'm starting to outstay my welcome. :o

What do you do to entertain a readily bored 8 month old when going for a walk isn't an option?

We're going to get him a few more toys and books (although he has a lot), but I'm wondering if there is some activity that I haven't thought of yet?

What about water play?

When Connor was little I used to (on hot days) fill a large shallow tupperware container with water and pop a few cups etc in there. He had a ball splashing in the water, great for his fine motor skills too

Great idea Becky. Will do that tomorrow.

It's really only a problem now he's crawling and pulling himself up on furniture. He gets bored with a toy or book and takes himself off to power points or the bookcases containing good books. I spend my day bounding quickly around the house in hot pursuit.
