Hi everyone,

Had a bit of a shock the other day. Had to take an emergancy contraception and i couldn't breast feed for 3 days. Now my supply has dropped right off and don't know if i will be able to continue to feed.

Just warning people about this form of contraception.

I was under the impression that due to it being progesterone only (as per the mini-pill) that it was quite safe for breastfeeding.

I'm sorry that your supply is dropping off :( that must be so hard to deal with - maybe try some lactation boosting cookies (the recipe's in the breastfeeding section).

Hope you can get it back up again :hugs:

Carmen that would be great! I now have very deflated boobs! Tom had a suckle this morning but just dropped off. I had hoped to bf for much longer, but i guess these things can't be helped.

Tam my dp looked in his medical books about the morning after pill, and the reason it works is because it is a massive dose of progesterone, where as the mini pill is small doses over a long period but have the same effect. When i asked if it was ok to bf with the lady said Yes...i asked her to double check and she came back and said 'whoops you actually can't feed for 3 days'. Pays to check!
