I am a student and im really pleased to have come across this site.
Im not pregnant, but i am studying design and have decided to do my project on a new bath design for pregnant women.
The tub will be one you could situate anywhere in the house, be of any shape or size, with or without bubbles, and with all necessary side table , reading lamp and any other features you love to have as part of your experience.
If you have time to answer a couple of questions or give your comments on this project i would be soo greatful.
where would you prefer your Dream bath to be situated other than the bathroom? Lounge? Roof Terrace? basement? kitchen etc...
What shape would you prefer? to be able to sit, lie, or half and half etc?
How would you prefer to enter the tub? climb in? or i was thinking a side door, to avoid the nightmare of getting stuck in the bath lol
and any other activitis you would like to do whilst relaxing ? Reading, drinking (tea of course) , TV, music
And how much would you pay for such an appliance if t were available?
Thanks so much i cant wait to hear your replys :)

It would be good if it was very deep. Most baths fitted in new houses aren't very deep. (They also aren't very wide, but that might just be my butt! :o )
Unfortunately, a side door probably wouldn't work as you would have to fill & empty the bath while you were actually sitting in it.
An elevated step inside the bath would be a good idea - kind of like you have in a spa, so you could sit comfortably. Maybe it could be removable so you could also lie down if you wanted to. Somewhere to stow a big comfy bath pillow would be handy.
The side-table idea is a very good one. Maybe with a rail to hang a hand towel to dry your hands when reading your book so that you don't get the pages wet.
I think I'd probably only use it in the bathroom, but maybe if I lived out in the country somewhere it might be nice to have an outdoor one.
I'm not sure how much I'd pay. If money were no object I would probably be prepared to pay a fair bit for it.
Good luck!

i was thinking some steps (non-slip!!) on the outside & a railing to hold onto to help you get in & out of the bath (like some ppl with disabilies have).
i agree with the deep bath - but also long, too (or like a spa - have a step to sit on & a deeper area for your legs?) - most baths these days you have to cut yourself in half to get into! maybe they are just made for kids? lying down is nice, but i wouldn't mind sitting - as long as you could partially lay back (enough so that you could rest your head)
i would prefer the bath to be in the bathroom instead of the current one. there wouldn't be room for it elsewhere.
a towel railing within reach is a great idea, as is a table/ ledge where there is enough room to put a couple of items like a drink & book (& any other things used in the bath like shower gel & sponge/ soap, razor, etc..)
as for the price - well, i'm sure it would be more than i could afford (& i'm renting, so can't install anything...) so, i actually wouldn't even consider getting one. it's be on my list of "i really wish i had that, but know i don't really need it" however, if i was to come into some money, then i'm sure i'd pay how much it marketted for - i'm sure it wouldn't be priced too unreasonably...

Yes, definately a nice deep bath. One that's got a moulded type shape that you can sit in the bath without sliding down. A bath in the bedroom with the ability to watch TV would be just great. Side tables would be great. And a step, like has been mentioned. Feel free to PM me if you need anymore help.:D

I have just realised that i have joined an Austrailian site, how wonderful!!! Its freezing here in London!!!
Thank you so much for your replies it is very helpful.
As far as cost goes, would something like this be more appealing if it were part of your health club, for instance, if you were to visit the gym for swimming and then instead of joining the big hairy men in the jacuzzi :))) you could climb into ayour own personal relaxation bath spa created specially for pregnant women in seperate area of the gym, with its own music and TV fitted.
Somewhere you could relax for an hour?? This bringing it out of the house and affordable as part of your gym membership
This would very much help with my research as i have also found people to not really wnat to tear up floor boards and fit one of these in their lounge :)

yes - i'd definitely use it if it was located elsewhere! either at a swimming pool, or gym... but i don't attend a gym & not sure if i'd have the energy to whilst pregnant! but, i would do laps in a pool. so, it would be nice & relaxing after a swim.
however, pregnant women are warned not to use spas coz of the heat & bacteria (i think). so, this might be an issue that needs to be addressed depending on how you intend to set it up ;)

I can't even imagine being cold at the moment!! It's a million degrees here with a thousand percent humidity!! (OK, clearly I'm exaggerating, but you get what I mean!!)
One of these in a health resort or something similar would be wonderful! Then you wouldn't have to worry about how much it would cost either.
I think if one of those health retreats that caters to PG women had one....... oh! heaven!!
