(teehee, posting this in the sport section... haha)

Has anyone here participated in bare-foot bowls before? Is it one of those times that I should seek a babysitter for nearly two-year old or.. well I don't know an "or" really, I don't know that I'd appreciate a child running around the green shouting "BALL!!!!!! BALL!!!!!!!!" while trying to gather them :p

Where did you go and what did you pay?

Cheers.

Hey Seek,

I've done it about 4 times for corporate events (so not sure how much it cost) and it was great. There are only two reasons that I'd leave Cobes with a sitter for it.

1. Those balls would actually be quite ouchy if he got a finger or toe banged between them or dropped one on his foot
2. For the events I've been to, it was hard enough holding a champers/wine/whatever in one hand and trying to bowl with the other - you'll really have no hands free:laughing:

Seriously though, he will probably want to get in the middle of the action and it could be a little dangerous for him.

Have fun!:goodvibes:

I agree completely with RM ..

not only are the balls dodgy if you drop them (seriously .. could break bones in widdle Cobey's feet) .. but the games are fairly slow .. and long (LOTS of fun though .. we did it as a fundraiser one year for school )

enjoy .. (and if you need someone to keep an eye on the munchkin .. let me know .. )

ETA - I think we paid $10 each .. but it WAS for the school .. and that did include a drink ..

well i work at a bowls club - go algester sports club (i hope i can put that in)

i recommend that you get a babysitter (veve offered - let her have some fun too) we charge $6 for social bowls and it is a good idea to book first just in case the bowlers have a comp on. it is a lot of fun but an older child will have more fun and it would be less stress for you.

pfft veve's coming with me :p Grandma can look after Cobes. Or even Daddy if I decide for a girls event.
(see, miss veve, I'm thinking of 'what nikki can do for her birthday this year')

My birthday is seriously 5 months away, I just think of stupid things like this when I'm bored.
I was thinking of doing bowls and a lunch/dinner... there are a few places the put on 'stuff like that' :)

Thanks RM, Veve and Belinda :D

I think barefoot bowls is a great idea - both of my kids have been itching to have a go for ages ... only problem is that I have yet to find a club that will allow a child under the age of 14 anywhere near a green ...
